Chapter 935
Only Hollis can figure things out for herself sometimes.
"Uncle Cauth, Grandpa, you have gone too far!" Ava fumed, her teeth clenched. "My mom's given everything to the Lumi Group, working her butt off and sacrificing so much. And you just toss her aside like she’s nothing? Just because she's a woman and my last name isn't Lumi, you think you can treat us like this?"
Cauth looked disappointed.
Bark said calmly, "Ava, I think it’s best if you go abroad for a few years to further your education. Once you’ve learned more, you’ll understand why things went down the way they did today."
While Ava was questioning everything in the conference room, Hollis had already stormed out and caught up with Haley at the elevator.
Just as Haley was about to step in, Hollis blocked her way and said coldly, "We need to talk."
Haley stopped and turned leisurely. "What now?"
"When did you get those pieces of evidence?" Hollis asked, her voice icy.
Haley replied calmly, "Hollis, you've always had people watching the resort. Naturally, I've had people watching the oil site. All the evidence came to me the day after the incident."
Hollis gritted her teeth. "You really know how to bide your time! Waiting until today to act!"
"If I had exposed it that day, you would have had a backup plan, right?" Haley smiled slightly. "It's better to let you think your scheme succeeded. Sometimes, people should focus on their own responsibilities. If you keep an eye on others, your own affairs will become a mess. If you have the energy, take care of your own daughter."
Hollis clenched her fists. "Are you lecturing me?"
"Lecturing is too strong a word; it's just a friendly reminder," Haley said calmly. "If in the future you ever try to manipulate me or Bryan again, don't blame me for disregarding our family ties and taking you to court."
The two lives lost in the petrochemical project were enough to send Hollis to prison for a few years.
Hollis's chest heaved with anger. Haley was threatening her again! She had been in a high position for over a decade and had never been mocked repeatedly like this before.
Failing to suppress her anger, she raised her right hand and slapped down hard.
Haley's eyes flashed, and she grabbed Hollis's wrist. "Hollis, are you trying to hit me?"
"I'm your aunt. Is there a problem with an elder disciplining a younger?" Hollis's right hand was held, so she raised her left hand and slapped again. Haley sneered, yanked Hollis's right hand, and then threw it hard.
Hollis, wearing high heels, was caught off guard and fell to the ground.
Fortunately, there was a trash can by the elevator. She managed to steady herself on it, preventing a complete fall.
"How dare you, Haley! You dare to lay hands on an elder! You bastard child raised outside without manners!" Hollis was truly enraged. She clung to the trash can as she stood up, gritting her teeth and cursing angrily, completely devoid of her former grace and elegance.
Hollis continued, "Back then, your mom messed around with Cauth just to get the Lumi Family's power, right? She didn't succeed, leaving it to you, is that it? Let me tell you, as long as you're in the Lumi Family..."
Haley turned her head, coldly questioning, "Who gave you permission to mention my mother?"
