Chapter 645

At nighttime, the air was filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant, making it hard to breathe.

Around 8:30, Martin led Katherine into the room.

Haley's fingers tightened under the blanket, but her expression remained calm as she said, "Katherine, I apologize for my previous reckless behavior. I hope you can forgive my mistake."

Katherine's red lips pressed together indifferently.

In all her years, she had never been slapped before.

If Martin hadn't called her personally, she wouldn't have come to treat Haley at all.

Katherine pursed her lips and said nothing.

Martin's cold gaze swept over.

Only then did Katherine force a slight smile ."It's in the past. I didn't take it seriously."

Katherine walked to the bedside with a businesslike attitude. "Haley, can you describe your condition to me?"

Haley leaned against the bed, keeping silent.

"Mr. Winston, could you please step out for a moment?" Katherine turned and said. "The process of psychological treatment is best done without a third party present. Please cooperate."

Martin looked at Haley, as if asking whether she wanted him to stay.

This scene made Katherine even more furious.

Martin always walked on the edge, doing whatever he wanted without any regard for others. When had he ever asked for anyone's opinion?

But now, in such a trivial matter, he was actually looking at Haley for her reaction.

"Don't worry, I won't harm Haley," Katherine said coldly. "I'm here as a doctor, and I would never do anything against medical ethics. Mr. Winston, please trust me."

Haley finally lifted her head and said, "Ivan, you can go out now. Then come back when the treatment is over."

Martin stood up, his thin lips pressed tightly together. "Haley, if you need anything, just call me."

He turned and walked out of the room, closing the door slowly behind him.

In the room, only Haley and Katherine remained.

Katherine pulled a chair over and sat by the bed., "Haley, describe your condition to me," she said calmly.

"For the past four years, I've had nightmares every night. I dream about my children being taken away, about them being harmed..." Haley covered her face, looking extremely distressed. "I've seen many psychologists. They all say I have severe depression and severe anxiety. I've taken medication, but it hasn't helped. Katherine. please! You have to help me get out of this nightmare."

Katherine slowly slipped into her role as a doctor, her voice softening. "Do you remember when you had your first nightmare? What happened that day?"

"It was the day I gave birth. I was locked in a warehouse, and my family, afraid of losing face, refused to take me to the hospital. So, I gave birth alone in the warehouse, losing a lot of blood." Haley clutched her hair, her face full of pain. Then, she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I'm too emotional to continue. Can I have a cup of hot coffee before we continue?"

Katherine frowned.

But she had seen many patients make various requests during treatment.

Katherine nodded lightly. "Go ahead."

Haley picked up the coffee from the bedside table and gave a bitter smile. "It's a bit cold. I'll ask Ivan to get me another cup."

Katherine felt uncomfortable again.

It was hard to imagine a man like Martin personally fetching coffee for anyone, let alone Haley.
