Chapter 927
Todd whispered, "Mommy."
Without Haley's permission, he had to stash his laptop under the bed.
He was almost five now. This meant she was cool with him being a hacker.
"Got your Christmas present, now hit the sack," Ivan said, carrying Angela upstairs. "I'll tell you a bedtime story."
"I love you, Daddy!" Angela planted a big kiss on Ivan's cheek, making his heart melt.
Haley needed some time to adjust. Meanwhile, he'd hang out with the kids. If they got hurt, Haley might never forgive herself.
The kids finally crashed, and Ivan headed back to his room.
Haley was on the balcony, surrounded by empty beer cans, looking a bit out of it.
Ivan walked over, grabbed the beer can from her hand, and downed it.
"Don't take my stuff!" Haley's face darkened as she snatched the beer back.
Ivan chuckled. "You're like a little squirrel guarding its stash. So cute."
Haley was a bit dazed. She was mad, not guarding food.
No matter how she changed, Ivan always saw the good in her.
"Merry Christmas," Ivan said, hugging her. "I just want our family to stay together, always."
Haley, a bit tipsy, replied, "That's impossible. The kids will get married. It'll just be us in the end."
"Just the two of us sounds good too," Ivan said, breathing in the scent of her neck mixed with a hint of alcohol. "Since we got married, we've never had time just for us. When they grow up, we can travel the world, free and easy."
"Okay." Haley leaned against him and slowly drifted off.
Ivan felt a bit sad. He pursed his lips, carried Haley to bed, then went to get a basin of water to clean her up.
By the time he was done, it was already two in the morning. He called Brenda to wish her a Merry Christmas, and then lay down beside Haley.
Time flew by. It was the first morning of the new year. The fireworks outside hadn't stopped.
Haley lazily opened her eyes and met Ivan's deep gaze. She smiled. "Why are you still in bed?"
Ivan hugged her. "You're still in bed too. Want me to help you get dressed?"
"No." Haley covered her chest.
Last time, it had turned into something more.
She had a high-level meeting at Lumi Group today and couldn't afford any marks.
Haley jumped out of bed and went to the bathroom.
