Chapter 355
Emily's lips were ashen.
She had never been afraid of Haley; it was Ivan she feared.
That man was ruthless and cold-blooded with his enemies. If he found out she had deceived him for four years, he would kill her.
"Haley, please help me."
Emily grasped Haley's hand, pleading in a low voice.
Her dream of becoming the young mistress of the Winston family was shattered. Now, she just wanted to save her own life and maintain her position in the DeRoss family.
"Ivan doesn't know about the child yet." Haley said indifferently.
Emily exhaled sharply in relief. As long as Ivan was still in the dark, there were many possibilities.
She probed, "Besides you, who else knows about this?"
Haley knew exactly what Emily was planning and let out a cold laugh, "You want to eliminate everyone who knows, thinking you can keep this secret forever, is that it?"
Emily stiffened.
Haley had already prepared an email, complete with a paternity test report. "The moment anything happens to me, that email will automatically be sent to every member of the Winston family," she said with a detached air. "If you dare lay a finger on me, your biggest secret will be out in the open."
Emily was shaking with rage, consumed by fury and unease she had never experienced before. She desperately wanted to throttle the person in front of her.
"I can keep your secret for now," Haley said with a mocking laugh, "but only if you behave and don't touch my children. As long as you stay away from them, I can assure you Ivan won't find out about this for a while."
Emily slowly regained her composure. She eyed Haley's smile and asked, "Why don't you tell Ivan about the kids? If he knew you were Keith and Owen's biological mother, if he knew he had a son and a daughter, maybe you could be part of the Winston family and become Mrs. Winston. "
"Do you think everyone is as vain as you?" Haley toyed with her coffee cup, responding coldly, "I'm not interested in the position of Mrs. Winston."
"Do you not like Ivan?" Emily's gaze narrowed.
"If it weren't for the kids, I wouldn't have anything to do with him," Haley said flatly. "The only reason I'm keeping this a secret is to avoid dragging the children into Winston's family drama and to keep you from facing Ivan's wrath for the time being. It's a win-win situation, so I hope you can manage your impulses to do wrong and not provoke me."
She didn't want to expose the secret because she didn't want to risk Todd and Angela's custody being taken away. Until she found a solution, she would never let Ivan know about the children.
Emily bowed her head to drink her coffee, nodding in agreement. As long as the secret was safe from Ivan, so was she. She would find a way to extricate herself from the situation.
Ivan brought the gift to Mrs. Winston after the party was winding down. Many guests had already left, and just a few scattered people remained, chatting.
Mrs. Winston had just ordered a servant to accept the birthday presents when she saw Ivan turning to leave. She said, "Hold on. I have a few questions for you."
Ivan glanced towards the small balcony where Haley had been, now empty. Where had Haley gone? Had she left for home, or...?
"Miss DeRoss, is she the one you fancy?" Mrs. Winston's voice was sharp. "You refuse to marry the mother of your children but instead want to bring their aunt into the family?"
