Chapter 470
Although he knew he was not as favored as Haley in the hearts of several children, the difference shouldn't be that big. Haley also found it a bit funny. She gently touched the heads of the children one by one and whispered, "Be good at home, listen to Grandma. Daddy and Mommy will be back soon, okay?"
Todd obediently nodded. "Mommy, don't worry, I will take care of my little sister."
Keith pursed his lips and said, "Mommy, I will play with my younger siblings, no need to worry about us."
Owen waved her hand. "Goodbye, Mommy. Quinn and I are going to play the piano!"
Watching the carefree looks of the children, especially Todd, who looked relaxed, Haley felt a slight relief in her heart.
She followed Ivan into the car and sincerely said, "Thank you."
"I understand your concerns," Ivan said as he drove, "Todd is actually the most mature of the four children. He is smart and precocious, sensitive at heart, and all his thoughts are on you and Quinn. If anything happens to you two, he will always be concerned, which is not a good thing for a four-year-old child."
Haley lowered her eyes, "It's all my fault, my negligence. If I were good enough, Todd wouldn't have to mature at such a young age."
"It's not your fault, it's mine." Ivan's voice was low. "If I had known about Todd and Quinn earlier, you and your son wouldn't have suffered so much."
At a red-light intersection, he said this while glancing at Haley.
In his dark eyes, the woman's profile was reflected.
His eyes were piercing, causing Haley's heart to tighten suddenly.
She dared not meet his gaze at all.
Because she was afraid of falling for him.
She twisted her fingers and quickly changed the subject. "By the way, about the education issues I talked to you about last night, have you considered it?"
Ivan started the engine, gripping the steering wheel. "I respect all your opinions and also respect any choices the children make. If Keith and Owen agree to go to preschool, I won't object."
A smile appeared on Haley's lips. "Okay, I'll ask them when I find the time."
The car soon arrived at the hospital.
This was the most authoritative military hospital in Watertown.
The doctor conducted a full-body examination on Haley and said, holding the examination report, "There is still a slight residue of anesthesia in Haley's body, it will be completely excreted in about three days, no need to worry too much."
With the doctor's words, Ivan finally felt relieved.
The two walked out of the doctor's office side by side, passing by the emergency room.
The hospital's emergency room was always busy 24 hours a day. Haley originally wanted to avoid it, but suddenly she saw a familiar figure.
Her pupils contracted sharply, and the hand hanging by her side involuntarily clenched into a fist.
Ivan's eyes suddenly turned cold as he followed her gaze. "Emily, what is she doing in the hospital?"
Haley pursed her lips. "I don't know."
But soon, she understood the situation, as many people waiting in the emergency room were discussing it.
"That's a female prisoner, they say she has a stomachache and was urgently brought in for emergency treatment."
"A woman with a stomachache, is she pregnant?"
"If a prisoner is pregnant, does that mean she can get a reduced sentence?"
