Four little faces simultaneously drooped, filled with disappointment.
Todd pursed his pink lips.
Since hearing Haley say those words at breakfast, he had felt something was off.
Because Angela hadn't been receiving treatment at any institution, and Todd hadn't enrolled in any early education programs, what Haley said was clearly a lie to Brenda.

"Owen, be good, listen." Haley patiently coaxed. "You go abroad with Thomas today, and I'll come to join you tomorrow, okay?"
Keith furrowed his brow. "Can't we stay in Watertown and wait for Mommy for one day?"
Haley could only smile bitterly.
One more day of waiting meant one more day of danger.
Martin was unpredictable. Capable of harming his own brother, he could just as easily harm his brother's children. Haley couldn't let the children be in danger.
Only by sending the children away could she confront Martin without worries!
"I'm standing right here, and none of you even noticed me. This is an insult to my looks!"

Todd and Angela were already familiar with Thomas, but Keith and Owen hadn't formally met him.

His intuition told him that Haley had something more important to deal with than the four of them.
