Chapter 637
Four little faces simultaneously drooped, filled with disappointment.
Todd pursed his pink lips.
Since hearing Haley say those words at breakfast, he had felt something was off.
Because Angela hadn't been receiving treatment at any institution, and Todd hadn't enrolled in any early education programs, what Haley said was clearly a lie to Brenda.
Todd thought Haley wanted to go abroad for personal matters, so he actively cooperated with Haley. But now, Haley suddenly said she couldn't go abroad.
Did that mean Mommy went through all the trouble of lying just to send them away?
Why?
Facing with the children's puzzled looks, Haley felt bitter.
She had to continue fabricating this lie. "Originally, I was supposed to go abroad with you, but there was a sudden issue with the project, so I have to stay back to handle the work. However, I've arranged for Thomas to accompany you all. You all know Thomas, right?"
Owen stomped his foot unhappily. "I don't know anyThomas! I just want Mommy! If Mommy doesn't go, then I won't go either!"
"Owen, be good, listen." Haley patiently coaxed. "You go abroad with Thomas today, and I'll come to join you tomorrow, okay?"
Keith furrowed his brow. "Can't we stay in Watertown and wait for Mommy for one day?"
Haley could only smile bitterly.
One more day of waiting meant one more day of danger.
Martin was unpredictable. Capable of harming his own brother, he could just as easily harm his brother's children. Haley couldn't let the children be in danger.
Only by sending the children away could she confront Martin without worries!
"I'm standing right here, and none of you even noticed me. This is an insult to my looks!"
Thomas appeared behind them, his roguish remark dissipating the tension.
The four children looked up at Thomas.
Todd and Angela were already familiar with Thomas, but Keith and Owen hadn't formally met him.
"Why the long faces if we're going abroad for fun?" Thomas bent down and lifted Angela. "Angela, do you remember when I took you to see the meteor shower when you were young? Let me tell you, there's a meteor shower tomorrow night too, so we have to take a plane now, or we'll miss it."
Angela's eyes lit up. "Meteor shower, I want to see it!"
Owen's interest was also piqued. "I've never seen a meteor shower before. Can we make wishes on the meteor shower?"
"Of course!" Thomas scooped up Owen as well. "As long as you make a wish on the meteor shower, all your wishes will come true."
"If so, then let's hurry and take a plane to see the meteor shower." Owen urged.
Keith pursed his lips. "Mommy, don't worry. I'll take care of my them."
Todd fell silent.
His intuition told him that Haley had something more important to deal with than the four of them.
It definitely wasn't work, because in Haley's heart, work always came after the children.
So, what was it that made Haley have to send the four of them abroad?
Could it be...
Todd's eyelids drooped.
Ivan and Haley seemed harmonious in the morning, but he noticed Haley's clenched fist.
In other words, Haley deliberately acted like a loving couple with Ivan in front of the four of them.
If Haley decided to divorce Ivan, then indeed, sending them away was the only way to smoothly handle the matter...
Having realized this key point, Todd relaxed and smiled gently. "Mommy, we'll go first, and wait for you to come get us."
The four children waved goodbye to Haley, and tears almost fell from Haley's eyes.
