Chapter 115 What about Mommy?
The autumn night wind blew through the courtyard, making the camphor tree leaves rustle.
Outside the house, the wind whispered, bringing a tranquil ambiance inside.
Silence prevailed, to the extent that the sound of a falling needle could be heard.
It was so quiet, impossible to mishear.
Haley struggled to form the words,"Angela, you can really speak..."
She purposely ignored the two words Angela had called out.
"You're amazing, little sister!" Todd's dark eyes were filled with delight. "No one will dare laugh at you for not being able to speak again!"
"Wow, Angela, you're so amazing!" Owen exclaimed, dancing with joy. "Hurry up and call me brother, I want to hear you call me brother!"
Angela's voice was so pleasant, as if milk candy had rolled in desiccated coconut, irresistibly sweet.
Suddenly, Ivan paused,"Angela, did you just... call me the wrong name?"
This was her dad, so why couldn’t Angela also call him dad?
Did he mishear it, or did Angela make a mistake?
Initially, everyone had ignored it, but once Owen pointed it out, it was impossible to ignore.
Because of the sweet and tender "dad" from the little girl, Ivan lost himself for over ten seconds.
He suddenly felt an urge to have a daughter.
With a hint of disappointment, he said,"Angela, I am Mr. Winston, not your dad."
Though he wanted to be her dad, he ultimately wasn't.
He couldn't mislead a child who had just learned to speak...
"Daddy."
Angela looked up and spoke again.
This time, her voice lacked dryness and difficulty, but was filled with determination and stubbornness.
Her watery eyes twinkled like stars, reflecting Ivan's figure.
As if her world, at this moment, could only accommodate Ivan...
Seeing this scene, Haley felt a pang in her heart.
She hadn't even heard the word "mommy" yet, but this man had been called dad twice in a row by her daughter.
She cleared her throat and said,"Mr. Winston, I apologize. It's Angela's first time speaking, and she may not understand the difference between uncle and dad. I hope it hasn't caused you any trouble."
She stood up and continued,"Thank you so much, Mr. Winston, but it's already too late today. How about I treat you to a meal tomorrow?"
This man had succeeded in getting Angela to speak.
It's nothing to have a meal.
But as long as Ivan needs her in the future, she will do her best.
Ivan said calmly,"Let's talk about having a meal later. You take Angela to the hospital for treatment first. She's still young, and early intervention will help her recover sooner."
Haley nodded and got up to send the Winston family father and son away.
Owen glanced at the time, exactly twenty minutes. He couldn't find any more excuses to delay.
But Angela hadn't called him "brother" yet, and he didn't want to leave...
He deliberately dragged his feet. He was, just a few steps away from the door, but the short distance somehow turned into the Red Army's Long March...
Just then, Angela, wearing pink pajamas, ran towards Ivan.
She hugged his legs tightly and pulled him towards the house...
She didn't say a word, but her actions were so obvious.
"Daddy, Angela wants us to stay here overnight!" Owen laughed excitedly. "Let's not go back tonight, daddy, okay..."
