Chapter 890

Haley had a million things racing through her mind, but she slapped on a smile and headed into the kitchen with Ivan to whip up some dinner.

As she scrubbed the tomatoes, she threw out a casual, "Hey Ivan, how's Martin been lately?"

Ivan kept his head down, chopping away, and mumbled, "He's been pretty chill in the basement, not asking for much."

Back when they first locked him up, Martin was always pulling some crazy stunt or trying to break out. They always caught him, though. Lately, he seemed to have given up on escaping and was just laying low.

Haley's hand froze for a sec. Clearly, Ivan had no clue Martin had busted out. She lowered her gaze and said slowly, "Ivan, I wanna have a chat with Martin."

Ivan stopped chopping and looked at her, "Haley, Martin's a tough nut to crack. He won't spill anything."

No matter how much they threatened or bribed him, Martin never gave up any info about the chip database. Ivan wasn't thrilled about Haley getting mixed up with Martin.

"Babe, what's got you so worried?" Haley dried her hands, walked over, and wrapped her arms around Ivan's neck, purring, "I love you, only you. Don't you trust me? I just wanna see if I can get Martin to open up about the chip code. Maybe he'll let something slip."

Ivan ran his fingers through her hair and said softly, "Alright, I'll hit up Jared later."

"No rush, let's eat first." Haley went back to washing the tomatoes, and Ivan just shook his head with a smile. They finished making dinner together. It was a simple meal, but it felt like home.

After dinner and cleaning up, Ivan called Jared, his face cold, eyes sharp, voice deep, radiating authority.

Who would've thought this guy was just washing dishes a minute ago? Haley rested her chin on her hand, watching him, sighing inside. Once they found out Martin was gone, this cozy vibe would be history.

The Bio-intelligent Chip in her body was a pain, but at least there was a way to crack it. But Martin...

Haley smiled bitterly. Even if they caught Martin again and beefed up the basement security, he'd still find a way out.

Martin was too slick, and Ivan, being so straight-laced, didn't stand a chance. Unless they killed Martin. The thought shocked Haley as soon as it popped into her head.

When did she get so cold-blooded, thinking about offing someone to keep them quiet? She shook her head, trying to clear the dark thought.

Just then, Ivan's face turned stormy. "What did you say? The guy in the basement isn't Martin? He was swapped out and you only noticed after three days?"

One question after another, showing just how pissed Ivan was. "Check the surveillance! Every single frame! We need to find Martin, now!"
