Chapter 900
In Haley's mind, Todd was always the good kid, never causing trouble. He hadn't shed a tear since he was two.
But now, here he was, bawling his eyes out, tears streaming down his cheeks.
Haley rushed over, squatted in front of him, and wiped away his tears.
"Todd, I'm here, always. No need to cry." She pulled little Todd into a hug, gently patting his back.
"Mommy, Mommy." Todd kept calling out, slowly calming down.
Haley took his hand and they sat on the couch. She gave him a gentle smile, "Do you know why your daddy asked you to come over?"
Todd nodded, his voice muffled, "To help you decode the chip program in your body."
Haley sighed inwardly. Todd had figured it out long ago.
She ruffled his soft hair, "You think you can do it?"
Todd pressed his lips together, "I'll give it my best shot."
Ivan had already set up the computer and all the tools. Everything was ready.
Haley leaned back on the sofa, eyes half-closed, totally relaxed.
Todd sat at the desk, his little fingers flying over the keyboard. Blue and white characters popped up on the black screen, red dots flashing non-stop.
Ivan held the earring controller, his brows furrowed.
Time ticked by, the sky darkened. The winter wind howled past the window, bringing a cold, solemn silence.
Finally, with a heavy keystroke, Todd stood up from the computer.
"The original program can't be destroyed," Todd said, lips tight. "But I tweaked the program. When the body secretes hormones, the command won't trigger."
Haley's eyes lit up, "Todd, are you sure?"
Todd nodded, "We're too far from the original database, so I could only change a few symbols. If I study it more, I might make more progress."
"Todd, you're awesome!" Ivan looked at Todd, full of admiration. Todd hadn't grown up with him, but he was even more exceptional than he had imagined.
"Todd, thank you." Haley hugged Todd, "You're my hero."
Todd shyly pressed his lips together, "It's what I should do. So now..."
He hesitated, "Can Mommy and Daddy move back home?"
The light in Haley's eyes dimmed a bit. The original program command was modified, but there was still a temporary program, meaning Martin could still issue commands to her anytime.
Haley smiled, "Let's wait a few more days. Before Christmas, your daddy and I will come back to be with you."
Ivan nodded calmly, "I'll have someone take you back first."
Todd nodded, knowing this was tricky and couldn't be solved by just tweaking a few symbols.
But with his daddy around, he believed his mommy would be fine.
Todd obediently followed the bodyguard back to the Winston Family.
The villa quieted down. Haley looked at Ivan with bright eyes, her voice a bit hoarse, "We can sleep together now."
Ivan's Adam's apple bobbed.
Without a word, Ivan stepped forward, scooped Haley up in his arms, and quickly headed to the room on the second floor.
His movements were urgent, a bit rough. He tossed Haley onto the soft bed.
