Chapter 55 We Can Play Dirty Too!
Todd cursed under his breath. Angela had a special connection with Ivan, and every time she saw him, she was drawn to him automatically. He hurriedly caught up, grabbing Angela's arm.
"Angela, don't wander around. Mommy will worry. She's sick now, and if she worries about you, she won't get better."
Angela finally stopped running. She stood by the railing in the hospital corridor, looking down until Ivan's figure disappeared, and only then did she avert her gaze. Todd lowered his eyelids, his hands clenched into tight fists.
Ivan was very likely their father. But this man impregnated two women at the same time, which clearly showed he wasn't a qualified father. If Angela accepted Ivan as her father, she would likely be hurt again.
He didn't want Mommy to get hurt, and he didn't want Angela to get hurt either. He was a man, and he would grow up quickly. He would shoulder the responsibility for this family.
Haley felt much better after the IV, but her head still felt fuzzy. As a result, she decided to leave the hospital the next day. The two children were very well-behaved, and Todd slept on another bed in the ward with Angela, causing no disturbance.
Thomas sat by the bedside and whispered, "I've already sent someone to investigate. The incident today was done by the DeRoss family."
"I know," Haley said, tightening her lips. "Justin just visited the police station and saw those suspects, but they refuse to admit anything. They said it was just a passing fancy, and they aren't afraid of any punishment."
"If the DeRoss family is willing to do such a thing, they must not fear being exposed," Thomas coldly remarked. "But since they're playing dirty, we can play by their rules."
With that, he took out a stack of documents from behind him. "This is a list of all the clients of the DeRoss Group, as well as the important clients we are negotiating with. Take a look."
Haley frowned. "Where did you get all this?"
Thomas touched his nose. He couldn't tell her that Todd had provided it for him. If Haley found out that Todd had used his hacking skills to steal confidential information from other companies again, Todd's computer would surely be confiscated.
He cleared his throat and said, "Don't forget who I am and the kind of power I hold. How could I not find out about such things? These are within my reach."
Haley took the customer information and scanned it casually. The information was very detailed, including the customers' favorite colors and the places they liked to go during their leisure time. With this list in hand, the DeRoss Group was left vulnerable.
Sincerely, she said, "Thank you."
Thomas waved his hand dismissively and smirked, saying, "Well, there's no need to thank me. But if you really want to show your gratitude...how about marrying me?"
Haley's feeling of gratitude disappeared instantly, and she gave him a cold glance. "Seems like you're itching for trouble."
Thomas shrunk back, saying, "Just kidding. You didn't take it seriously, right?"
Haley remained silent. If Angela hadn't accepted Thomas, she would have kicked him out of Cuenca a long time ago.
The next morning at 8 o'clock, Thomas took the two children to preschool, while Haley went to complete her discharge procedures.
