Chapter 865
Bryan, freakin' out that his problems might get out, tried to hang up the phone fast, but Haley wasn't having it.
"Bryan, you got issues in the finance department?" Haley shot straight.
Bryan clammed up, not wanting to drag Haley into the Lumi Family's mess.
"The Lumi Group's only throwing in $300 million, their loss," Haley grinned. "Tell Lester to quit wasting time looking for more cash; the rest is already covered."
Bryan was floored. "What? It's a $700 million hole!"
For a physical company, anything over $100 million was huge, let alone $700 million.
In this market, getting investment was always a nightmare.
Haley chuckled, "Chill out, don't sweat the money. I'll swing by the company in a few days to check things out."
With that, she hung up.
Bryan was still shell-shocked. A few seconds later, he scrambled to call Lester back.
Haley tossed her phone on the table and wrapped her arm around Ivan's neck. "Babe, you into the resort project?" Haley's sweet voice was almost too much for Ivan.
Ivan's hand slid around her waist, his voice low and rough. "You want me to invest?"
"Giving you a chance to please me," Haley laughed. "Wanna make your wife happy?"
She was actually pretty keen on investing herself. But if Hollis found out the money was from her company, there'd be a ton of gossip.
Since it was a competition, she wanted to win fair and square.
Well, not totally fair; she was using her charm to get Ivan to invest.
Ivan murmured, "For the resort project, $1 billion might not cut it."
"For a one-month competition, $1 billion's plenty," Haley giggled. "After the evaluation, Bryan can handle the rest of the investments."
Bryan wasn't a kid anymore. After a month with her, he should be able to manage.
"Alright, I'll have Luke take the funds to the site tomorrow."
Haley tilted her head up and kissed Ivan's forehead. "Babe, you're the best. Don't worry, in three years, you'll get at least three times the return."
Ivan gave her a deep kiss. "What if I want a return right now?"
Seeing the look in his eyes, Haley knew where this was going. Even though she didn't mind, past intimate moments had always ended in accidents, so she was hesitant.
Maybe sensing her fear, Ivan just gave her a lingering kiss and let her go.
Haley leaned back on the sofa with a book, sighing quietly.
She wondered when Thomas would get back to her with some useful info.
Just then, there was a knock on the study door, and Alfred respectfully said, "Mr. Winston, Mrs. Winston, Mr. Lumi is here to visit."
Cauth sat downstairs, feeling a bit uneasy.
Even though Haley said her relationship with Ivan was solid, the news always hinted at a divorce. As a dad, Cauth was naturally worried since he hadn't seen it himself.
This was his first official visit to the Winston family.
Hearing footsteps from upstairs, Cauth quickly sat up straight and adjusted his collar.
Ivan, coming down from upstairs, was also a bit on edge.
