Chapter 895

Ivan was done messing with Haley. Just as he was about to back off, she grabbed onto him like her life depended on it.

Her brain was screaming to push him away, but her body? Nah, it was all in.

The moon was shining bright, and the night just flew by.

Next morning, Haley dragged herself out of bed, her face showing clear signs of tiredness.

Ivan wrapped her up in a gentle hug. "What do you want for breakfast? I'll whip it up."

Haley snuggled closer, her voice all raspy. "Last night, I didn't do anything weird, did I?"

Ivan planted a kiss on her lips. "Haley, you were awesome. You beat that Bio-intelligent Chip program. I'm so proud of you."

"Really?" Haley grinned, "So, can we sleep together from now on?"

Ivan's smile faded a bit. Sure, she won last night, but it was rough. He didn't want a repeat.

"We can sleep together, but no funny business," he said. "Just sleep, and no teasing."

Haley happily nestled back into his arms.

As long as she was with him, Martin wouldn't pop up out of nowhere. That was good enough.

After breakfast, Haley changed and headed downstairs. "I haven't been out in like, half a month. Gotta check on the project."

Bryan always sugarcoated things. She needed to see the real deal herself.

Ivan nodded, "I'll come with you."

He grabbed the car keys, pulled the car out, and opened the passenger door for her. Once she was in, he leaned over and buckled her seatbelt.

They cruised smoothly to the resort project. It was close by, so they got there in under ten minutes.

Last time Haley was here, it was all snowed in and the site was dead. Now, more than half the infrastructure was up, looking pretty impressive.

Haley and Ivan walked into the temporary office, "Where's Lester?"

Everyone knew Haley, the hottest woman in Watertown.

The receptionist greeted her with respect, "Mr. Wells and Mr. Chambers are in a meeting."

Haley felt something was off and asked calmly, "Where's Bryan?"

"Mr. Lumi went out for some business and hasn't come back yet."

Haley plopped down in the lounge area, "I'll wait till they're done."

Ivan sat next to her and handed her a cup of warm water. Just as they got comfy, the meeting wrapped up.

A bunch of overweight leaders waddled out first, with Lester and Maurice trailing behind, talking non-stop, "We can't stop this project. The losses are huge. We've got all the permits and government approval."

"No way," the pot-bellied leader snapped, "You dumped construction wastewater into the sea, messing up the environment. Halting work for half a month is already a favor to the Lumi Group."

Lester was sweating bullets. A half-month halt in a regular project was bad enough, but for one still in the assessment phase? Disaster.

Just then, Bryan rushed in, clutching a thick stack of documents. He said coldly, "The water quality within a mile of the site meets EPA standards. Halting our project for this is total BS."

The leader grabbed the documents and ripped them in half, lowering his voice, "Let me be straight with you. Your project is stepping on someone's toes. The higher-ups want you to stop for half a month, any excuse will do."
