Chapter 932

"On the evening of December 7th, the third-party survey team took another look at the oil field. Turns out, the storage capacity is at least half of what we said it was..." Bryan's voice echoed through the conference room.

Hollis shot up from his seat. "This is ridiculous! Who made up this garbage? How dare they bring this nonsense to a high-level meeting at The Lumi Group! Bryan, stop reading!"

"If it's all lies, Hollis, why are you so worked up?" Haley stayed calm. "Bryan, keep going. Let's hear all the fun stuff that's happened to the Lumi Group's oil field in just one month."

Hollis's fists clenched tighter and tighter. Ava's face went pale. She knew exactly how much had gone down in the past month since she was in charge.

Hollis had supposedly taken care of it. Ava didn't know how this news got to Haley. If this news got out, the heir position she just secured would be toast.

"I don't want to waste time on this fake news," Ava snapped, "Meeting adjourned."

"Hold on for another ten minutes," Bark said firmly. "Even if it's fake, it's still about the Lumi Group. It won't hurt to listen."

With Bark's go-ahead, Bryan kept reading. "On the morning of December 8th, the inspection bureau visited the project site, personally received by Hollis Lumi, the president of The Lumi Group. No further developments on this matter."

"On the night of December 10th, electrical equipment at Oil Field No. 1 leaked, resulting in the death of two workers and injuries to three others..."

Bark's face suddenly changed. If it was just a problem with the oil field's survey data, it wouldn't necessarily carry moral condemnation.

But now there were fatalities. And this hadn't been reported in the news at all; it had been buried.

"This news is getting more and more outlandish!" Hollis's face turned cold. "Is it appropriate to have us sit here listening to made-up stories, Haley?"

Haley chuckled. She opened the file in front of her and tossed it in the middle of the conference table. "Photos from the scene, witness testimonies, and victim interviews are all here. Want to see me in court?"

Everyone around the table looked at the documents. Everything was there.

Hollis's face was like ice. So Haley had been ready all along.

"I looked into the cause of the accident. The equipment on site was outdated stuff from the '90s, sent straight to the site without any maintenance." Haley smiled mockingly. "Hollis, the company allocated two billion dollars for this project. Did you use all the money to bribe the inspection bureau and bury the news?"

Hollis shot back, "That's nonsense!"
