Chapter272 Paternity TestC

Todd, being short, wove through the crowd and soon vanished from Henry's line of sight.

"Todd!" Henry panicked.

Henry was worried Todd might be kidnapped. He couldn't even contemplate why Todd would come to the hospital.

He searched through the crowd for over ten minutes without a glimpse of Todd. Just as Henry was about to seek help at the hospital's information desk, a voice came from behind him. "Henry, are you looking for me?"

Henry turned around, and his tension eased when he saw Todd unharmed behind him. "Todd, where did you go? You scared me half to death."

"I went to get some band-aids." Todd lifted the package in his hand. "Mommy hurt her heel wearing high heels, so I thought I should buy some for her."

Henry wiped his face. "We have band-aids at home. There's no need for such a long detour."

Todd looked down, staying silent.

"Todd, let's get in the car and head back," Henry suggested.

Todd nodded in agreement and followed Henry into the car.

Sitting in the back seat, he turned his head to watch the landscape blur past the window, the doctor's words echoing in his mind.

"It will be at least one more week before the paternity test results are available. Three days at the earliest if expedited."

In other words, he would know if Ivan was his and Angela's father in three days.

...

Ivan usually returned home after ten at night from work.

Today, his car rolled into the villa's driveway just past six.

As he opened the car door and stepped out, his gaze fell upon the little girl in the living room.

The little girl in a pink dress sat on the play mat assembling a puzzle while Owen lay beside her, chin rested on his hands, eyes sparkling as he gazed at her.

Alfred sat on the sidelines, his hand wrapped around a cone of ice cream, occasionally offering a lick to a little girl beside him.

The scene radiated a warmth and tenderness.

Ivan's usually stern expression softened a bit.

He stepped inside, hung up his suit in the foyer, and slipped into house slippers before walking to the play mat.

He squatted down, clapping his hands. "Angela, come here, let me hug you."

The girl turned her head, eyes like glossy marbles, instantly lit up as if fireworks had exploded within them, vibrant and enchanting.

Despite the delightful scene, a sudden sour pang struck Ivan's heart.

He suppressed the inexplicable emotion, speaking gently, "Angela, where's your mommy and brother? Why aren't they here?"

Alfred answered for her. "Ms. Haley said she had some work matters to attend to and left. Todd said he was going home to fetch something, and Henry just called me. He's bringing the Todd over."

Ivan nodded, a bit surprised.

He was slightly taken aback that Angela was comfortable staying by herself at the Winston residence.

Children with autism aren't usually at ease being alone in unfamiliar settings.

It seemed Angela must have already grown accustomed to the Winston residence.

As dusk settled, a car pulled up at the gates of the Winston residence.

Keith got out of the vehicle.
