Chapter 872

Not too long ago, Haley was still calling Brenda "Mrs. Winston," but today, she straight-up called her "Mom."

Brenda's heart, which had been stuck in her throat for what felt like forever, finally chilled out.

She knew that they calling her "Mom" meant the whole drama was pretty much over.

"Haley, go do your thing, I'll look after the kids," Brenda said.

"Mommy, I don't wanna be away from you!" Owen clung to Haley, wrapping his arms around her neck and whining, "Mommy, I just wanna stay with you, please!"

Angela tugged at Haley's clothes, whining too, "Mommy, I've never been apart from you. Mommy, don't move out, okay?"

Keith and Todd didn't say anything, but Haley could see they were just as bummed. Todd even looked a bit confused.

He and Angela had never been away from their mommy.

Even when she was super busy with work, she always had them around. But now, it didn't make sense for her to move out just for some work she could handle.

'Maybe mommy just wants some alone time with daddy? If that's the case, it kinda makes sense,' Todd thought.

"I'll come back to see you every day," Haley said, patting the kids' heads. "Now, go upstairs and help me pack, okay?"

"No," Owen pouted, "I wanna stay with mommy, I don't wanna be away from mommy."

Angela chimed in, "Mommy, let me stay with you, okay? I won't make any noise."

Haley felt a pang of sadness. She had thought she'd have a peaceful life, but nope, here the drama was.

If she could get better in a month, that'd be perfect. Otherwise, who knows how long she'd be away from the kids.

"Kids, I love you," Haley forced a smile. "Once my work's done, I'll move back right away."

"Mommy, I love you too," Owen said, leaning against her, "I love you the most, so I don't wanna be away from you."

Angela clung to her sleeve, "Mommy, I love you too."

The kids' voices buzzed in her ears like background noise.

Haley suddenly stood up straight. This feeling was way too familiar.

Almost the next second, a mechanical woman's voice echoed in her mind: "Leave them! Leave them!"

Haley dug her nails into her palm, her voice low, "Ivan, quick, take me upstairs."

Ivan scooped her up and rushed upstairs, locking the door behind them. As soon as the door closed, Haley bit down on his arm.

The kids downstairs looked at each other, totally confused.

Owen opened his mouth, dazed, "I think I made mommy mad again, what should I do?"
