Chapter 975

Odette lived with her oldest son, Sawyer Jenkins. They only saw each other a couple of times a year, so Camilla didn't really think much of Odette.

"Camilla, check out what I got for you," Samantha said, waving her hand. "These are pearl earrings, top-notch quality, perfect for your skin tone."

Camilla took a quick look. Even though she wasn't a jewelry expert, she could tell these earrings were worth a lot.

"Thanks, Mom." She took the earrings and asked casually, "Why are you giving me such an expensive gift?"

As she spoke, Camilla glanced at Nicole. Usually, things this valuable went to Nicole.

Nicole snorted and subtly touched something hidden in her sleeve.

Those earrings might be worth a few million dollars, tops. But the Heart of the Ocean necklace she had was the real deal, a priceless treasure.

She had swapped the real necklace for a fake one. From now on, the Heart of the Ocean was hers.

Feeling a bit guilty, Nicole turned and slipped back into her room.

"Tomorrow's your grandma's eightieth birthday. Wear the earrings to the party," Samantha said with a smile. "That's just how your grandma is, a bit sharp-tongued. Don't take it to heart."

Camilla smiled and said, "I'm not even a real Jenkins. Grandma's attitude towards me isn't too much. Thanks, Mom, for the fancy gift. I'm gonna head to my room now."

Samantha's smile vanished as soon as Camilla went into her room.

She hoped Camilla would dress up nicely tomorrow, maybe catch Micah Jenkins' eye, so she wouldn't have to go to such lengths herself.

She really didn't want to plot against Camilla.

Angela rushed back to The Winston Mansion late at night, getting home around eleven.

Her brothers were already asleep, and only the study light was still on. She quickly went upstairs and pushed open the study door.

"Daddy!" she cried, tears streaming down her face.

Ivan was working on some documents. Hearing Angela's cries, he rushed over.

"Angela, what's wrong? Don't cry. I'm here."

Angela hugged Ivan's neck and cried even harder.

Ivan picked up nine-year-old Angela with one hand and gently comforted her, "Are you upset because I didn't pick you up at the airport today?"

Angela shook her head.

She had already told them she didn't need her dad and brothers to pick her up. She wouldn't cry over something like that.

"Did someone bully you?" Ivan guessed again.

He had endless patience for Angela, gently comforting her, a far cry from the fearsome Mr. Winston everyone else knew.

Angela kept shaking her head.

She was the only daughter of the Winston Family, always escorted by ten bodyguards. Who would dare to bully her?

"Daddy, I found Mommy," Angela choked out, her words broken and intermittent.

Ivan was stunned, thinking he must have misheard. He asked slowly, "Angela, what did you just say? I didn't catch that."
