Chapter 309

<Chapter>Chapter 309</Chapter>
This was Emily's final performance on her international tour was at the International Concert Hall in Australia.

Adorned with pearls and gems, her black silk gown glistened under the crystal chandeliers.

She sat straight-backed on stage, her long fingers danced across the keys with grace and speed.

She felt every gaze in the audience drawn to her, and in that moment, she was the center of the universe.

As the piece concluded, the hall burst into vigorous applause.

Emily rose, bowing to thank her audience.

Her gaze lifted slowly, but she abruptly felt the intense focus of someone's eyes on her.

She jerked her head up, scanning the audience, and there it was—a familiar face.

Mrs. Winston, Ivan's mother, whom she had only met twice before. Once was at Keith and Owen's hundred-day celebration and again at their first birthday party.

Thinking back, it had been over three years since she last saw Mrs. Winston, and now, unexpectedly, here she was in a concert hall far from home.

Emily quickly reviewed her recent performance on stage to ensure she hadn't made any faux pas.

Thankfully, her performance was flawless; Mrs. Winston couldn't possibly find fault with it.

She offered a slight, cordial smile to Mrs. Winston.

"Excuse me, do you know the young pianist on stage?" Catherine asked with curiosity.

Mrs. Winston nodded. "I didn't recognize her at first, but when she smiled at me, it clicked. She's the biological mother of my grandsons."

Catherine paused. "Ms. Emily is quite beautiful and seems very poised."

Mrs. Winston's expression was neutral.

She was indeed attractive, which was probably why Keith and Owen have such distinctive features.

Her background needed to be more robust, and the ambition in her eyes was too pronounced; such a person was not suited to be the young lady of the Winston family.

However, since she was the biological mother of Keith and Owen, Mrs. Winston had considered facilitating a marriage between Ivan and Emily, which could offer the children a complete family.

But no matter how much she persuaded, Ivan was unwilling to marry Emily.

After the piano concert, Emily invited Mrs. Winston to join her in the backstage lounge, accompanied by Catherine.

"If I had known you were attending the concert, I would have saved the best seat in the front row for you," Emily said respectfully as she poured a cup of tea, smiling warmly. "In a couple of days, some of the world's top pianists will perform here. If you're available, I can get a couple of tickets for you."

Pianists who performed in this international concert hall were universally acclaimed masters, and tickets were in high demand.

Being a student of Alice, however, it was fine for her to get a few tickets from the organizers.

"That won't be necessary," Mrs. Winston replied, her tone indifferent. "I'm planning to return to the States in a few days. What about you? Are you staying in Australia longer?"

Emily's eyes twinkled, and she replied cheerfully, "I've wrapped up my work commitments, so my schedule is flexible. How about I spend a few days with you before we both head back to Cuenca?"

Should she manage to ingratiate herself with Mrs. Winston, it would be another solid step toward joining the Winston family.

Mrs. Winston gave a faint nod, turning to say, "Catherine, why don't you come back to Cuenca with me?"
