Chapter 317

Todd's fingers scrolled continuously, his expression growing colder the more he read.

So, something big had happened in the past few days, and he had missed it.

Thankfully, Haley had found Garrett Leonard, a defense lawyer; otherwise, the Millers could have snatched their custody away.

However, Todd wondered why Jeremy didn't take a DNA test before filing the lawsuit.

He and his sister weren't even related to the Millers, but the Millers didn't know this, and neither did Haley.

Todd looked over at Haley, who was cooking with a furrowed brow.

This situation must be keeping her up at night.

The Millers acted aggressively, and without the full picture, Haley would likely pay a hefty price to protect him and his sister.

Todd's grip tightened on his phone; his lips pressed into a thin line.

Dinner was ready quickly, and Haley brought the dishes to the table.

Angela, in her little bib, sat eagerly at the table, her eyes sparkling at the sight of the flavorful dishes.

Haley served her with a reminder. "Don't just eat meat all the time. Look how chubby this little face is getting."

The little girl had gained at least five pounds recently, her cheeks as plump as dumplings.

Todd served Angela a slice of meat, grinning. "My little sister should have some meat on her bones; I don't want her blowing away in the next gust of wind."

Haley gave a gentle smile in response.

When Angela first started shuffling around, she weighed a petite twenty pounds, not even a year and a half old.

Once dinner was done, it was time for Angela's piano practice. Haley listened to the melodies drift in from the living room as she scrubbed the dishes clean.

Todd entered the kitchen holding a photocopy, his tone somber. "Mom, there's something I need to talk to you about."

Haley knew from Todd's tone that he was about to broach a serious subject. She wiped her hands dry and looked up. "Let's go sit in the living room, and you can tell me all about it."

"Let's keep this from Angie for now," Todd suggested, stepping forward and handing her the photocopy. "You'll understand once you read this."

Haley furrowed her brow in suspicion.

She took the thin sheet of paper, and her eyes suddenly fixed on the bold, black letters of the title.

[Paternity Test Results]

She didn't know why Todd would have something like this.

She took a deep breath and continued to read.

[Subjects: Ivan, Todd.]

Haley's eyes widened in shock.

Her gaze dropped swiftly to the final section.

[The probability of the tested individuals being father and son is 99.99%...]

"Todd, this, this..." Haley's lips quivered.

She reread the entire document, still in disbelief. 'Todd and Ivan... How can this be...'

This was beyond comprehension.

"Mommy, this is the result from a paternity testing clinic. The samples were from mine and Ivan's hair," Todd spoke softly. "It means Ivan is also Angela's biological father."

Haley staggered.

She braced herself against the table, standing up straight with difficulty, her voice barely a whisper. "This can't be..."

Todd and Angela's father was supposed to be Jeremy. How did it suddenly become Ivan...
