Chapter 600

Martin's lazy voice finally took on a more serious tone.
"The Winston Group is almost completely under my control. Even if Todd were to discover my true identity, it wouldn't pose any threat to me."
"Martin!" Brenda's voice rose in anger. "Do you realize how many people are keeping an eye on the Winston Group from the outside? Do you understand how many people are envious of the Winston Group? You need to watch your reckless behavior and volatile temperament. Apart from the children, the Winston family's servants, the Winston Group's employees, and the media... everyone will gradually discover that the CEO of the Winston Group has changed. By then, there will be no turning back!
"I know you don't care about the fate of the Winston Group, but this was your father's life's work!" Brenda pleaded tearfully. "Your father died because of you. You can't squander your father's hard work! Martin, if there is nothing else in this world that matters to you, I implore you to think about your poor father before you do anything."
"Okay, I get it already!" Martin impatiently ended the call.
Leaning back in his executive chair, legs crossed on the desk, he furrowed his brow tightly.
The sound of high heels suddenly approached from outside the door.
Thinking it was Kelly, he didn't bother to open his eyes and coldly commanded, "Bring me a cup of coffee."
"You're starting to look more and more like a CEO," a woman's voice abruptly said in his ear.
Martin's eyes snapped open. He stood up suddenly, walked over, and kicked the office door shut.
He squinted at the woman in front of him. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you."
Katherine tossed her handbag on the couch, her hands delicately hooking around Martin's neck.
"Martin, after you become the CEO of the Winston Group, will you remain in Watertown?"
Martin shrugged off her hand coldly. "What's it to you?"
"Martin, you used to live in darkness. I could only see you once a year. Do you know how much pain I am in?" Katherine said, tearfully. "Now, you can finally walk openly in the sunlight, and I'm truly happy.
"Martin, I don't want anything else. I just hope to see you every day, that's all, really!"
Martin felt nothing but annoyance.
He pinched his brow and said indifferently, "You've seen me now, so you can leave."
Katherine bit her lip, holding back her tears.
She loved Martin's cold and gloomy demeanor, yet she also resented his apathy.
Regardless of which side Katherine revealed, Martin seemed too disinterested to spare her another glance.
"Martin, you're not Ivan, you don't need to bear his burdens." Katherine grabbed his tie, speaking softly, "Divorce Haley and marry me, okay?"
Martin suddenly seized Katherine's throat.
"Katherine, I'll say it again. I am Ivan, don't call me by my old name anymore." Martin's voice was icy, as if it came from the depths of hell.
"You know my secret, so you’d better take it to your grave. Otherwise, I will make you disappear from this world just like Ivan!"
After saying this, Martin forcefully pushed her away.
Katherine fell to the ground.
She clutched her throat, gasping for breath, as if she had narrowly escaped death.
