Chapter 437

Todd had just gone out when Owen pulled him to the corner of the stairs. "Todd, we need to talk," Owen said.
Keith and Angela were also there, surrounding Todd.
"Keith, Angela, and I have reached a consensus, which is," Owen announced, "to get our dad and mom married so we can have both a dad and a mom and stay together forever."
"I disagree!"
Todd refused without hesitation.
"I know you disagree, so we’re not discussing this with you, okay?" Owen patted Todd's shoulder seriously. "You're still young, Todd. You don't understand the love between men and women. I'm here to explain it to you."
Todd coolly glanced at him. "Are you sure you understand it?"
A twinge of guilt washed over Owen, but he quickly composed himself with a defiant lift of his chest. "Well, I might not understand it, but Keith here gets it, don't you, Keith?"
Keith was silent, his expression blank.
In truth, he was just as clueless!
But he cleared his throat and said, "Dad really likes Mom, Todd. I'm sure you've noticed."
Todd's words were firm and clear. "My mom isn't fond of your dad."
The terms he used were telling—'my mom, your dad'. Despite the close friendship that had blossomed between him, Keith, and Owen, Todd had never seen the Winston family as kin.
Keith caught the implied meaning and narrowed his eyes. "How do you know Mom doesn't like Dad?"
"I've been living with Mom for over four years, and no one understands her better than I do." Todd pursed his lips. "If Mom chooses to marry your dad because of love, I won't object. But I don't want you and the Winston family to emotionally manipulate and force my mom into this..."
Owen widened his eyes. "I was never going to force Mom to do anything!"
Keith calmly said, "Owen and I have always respected Mom's choices. We brought you here to talk because we hope you won't interfere in Mom and Dad’s business."
Todd stared fearlessly at the two boys in front of him. "What do you mean, interfere?"
"For example, if mom decides to stay here tonight, you can't come up with ways to make her go back!" Owen said angrily, "You're always scheming; picking on me is one thing, but you can’t set any traps for Dad... if you have any bad ideas, Mom and Dad will never be together!"
Todd pursed his lips and didn’t know what to say.
He used to bully Owen, but that was a long time ago. Right now, Owen actually had the upper hand over him.
He had dug a pit for Ivan, wanting to see if that man cared about him and Angela...
He didn't want Haley and Ivan to get involved, afraid that Haley would get trapped and hurt...
He wasn’t just doing it for himself.
But was it right?
Was he really respecting Haley's choices?
"Todd, I understand why you're doing this, but Mom’s an adult. She makes decisions and choices after careful consideration," Keith said slowly. "Haley is also the mother of me and Owen. We hope Mom and Dad will be together, but more importantly, we want Haley to be happy. If Dad can't give Mom happiness, me and Owen will be the first ones to oppose it."
Owen nodded vigorously. "That's right. If Dad dares to pick on Mom, I’ll never recognize him as my dad again!"
Angela had been quiet, but now she blinked her big eyes, gently shaking Todd's arm, her voice weakly saying, "Brother..."
She called Keith and Owen by their names, but she still called Todd's brother.
That one word melted Todd's heart.
He hugged Angela and whispered, "Okay, I promise you guys, I won't interfere in any business between Mom and Dad.”
Owen immediately became happy. “Great, Todd, I won’t target you anymore!”
Keith took Todd’s hand. “Come on, I'll take you to my room. I have a lot of nice things there, and I'm sure you'll like them!"
