Chapter 680
"Martin and Ivan are completely different; they are two entirely different people!" Katherine hissed. "Before you even met Martin, he already had countless women. He changes his female companions every day, never the same. He's only being nice to you now because of the novelty. Once that wears off, you'll be discarded just like I was!"
"Is that so?" Haley chuckled, "I'm prettier than you, and I have more tricks up my sleeve. I don't think I can't win a man's heart. For instance, I had Martin send you out of Watertown without a second thought. I told him to leave, and he obediently did. You've known Martin for years; have you ever seen him be so compliant to a woman?"
That sentence stabbed Katherine like a knife.
She clenched her fists tightly, suppressing the pain, resentment, and jealousy in her heart.
"As long as Martin treats my kids well, I can live peacefully with him for a lifetime," Haley continued. "He looks exactly like Ivan. Even his gentle smile is the same. As long as I numb myself, I can pretend he's Ivan, the man I love the most. Honestly, it doesn't matter who I live with for a lifetime; I don't care that much."
Katherine began to tremble all over.
She had waited for Martin for so many years, waited for him to come out of the darkness, waited for him to start living righteously, and she was also waiting to marry him.
But Haley took away everything she had fantasized about.
Martin was the man she loved, but he forcibly sent her away for Haley!
Katherine was unwilling; she couldn't bear to leave!
"Don't look at me with those murderous eyes. You know I don't love Martin. If it weren't for you and him conspiring to kill my husband, I wouldn't even look at him," Haley said coldly. "Since you killed my beloved, then give me yours."
"What if I told you Ivan isn't dead?"
Katherine gritted her teeth and spoke.
A beam of light suddenly shone into Haley's cold heart.
She didn't know if it was true, but she was willing to believe even a one-percent possibility.
Suppressing her inner joy, Haley sneered, "Everyone says Ivan is dead, and now you're lying to me that he's not. Do you think I'll believe you?"
"Haley, if Ivan were really alive, would you leave Martin?" Katherine asked slowly.
"Do not make jokes right now."
Haley lowered her eyes, suppressing the trembling of her fingers.
"Actually, Martin isn't sure if Ivan is dead. To be precise, Ivan is missing," Katherine whispered. "A month ago, on your wedding day, Martin set a trap to lure Ivan to my apartment. Martin ordered me to erase Ivan's memories. But you know what?"
Katherine looked into Haley's eyes. "During the memory erasure process, Ivan kept calling your name, over and over. He reinforced the memories of your encounters in his mind. Because of this, I failed to erase his memories. The process was excruciating, and his willpower was incredibly strong. He didn't cooperate and eventually passed out."
Haley was stunned.
She looked up in disbelief. "Is everything you said true?"
"If there is a single lie, I will go to hell," Katherine said solemnly. "Ivan loved you so much that even when his life was threatened, he refused to forget you. But for a lifetime of security, you submitted to Ivan's brother. Do you deserve Ivan's love?"
Haley's long eyelashes trembled. "You failed to erase his memory, so where did he go?"
