Chapter 735
"I'm just afraid it won't be that easy," Todd said with a wry smile. "Dad's now the leader of the Black Gang. He can't just leave. He'll either die in the power struggle or clean up the area and hand it over peacefully."
The room went silent.
Owen and Angela, playing in the yard, were feeling down too.
Angela held a small shovel, her long lashes wet with tears.
"Angela, why are you crying?" Owen asked, putting down his toy to comfort her.
"I miss Daddy," Angela said, her voice muffled. "I miss him so much."
"I miss him too," Owen said, choking up. "But Mommy said Daddy forgot about us. Even if we see him, he won't recognize us."
Angela cried harder, tears streaming from her eyes.
"Don't cry. How about I ask Mommy to take us to see Daddy?" Owen suggested.
After wiping her tears, Owen went to find Haley, who was busy with work and looked serious.
Owen bit his lip and quietly retreated. "Angela, Mommy's busy. I'll talk to her later."
Angela just kept crying silently, her head down.
Seeing her like that broke Owen's heart.
He whispered, "Angela, don't cry. I'll take you to see Daddy."
Angela looked up, surprised. "But Mommy said it's too dangerous."
"Keith and Todd went to see Daddy and came back safe," Owen said, lifting his chin. "I'm older than Todd. I can protect you. Do you want to go?"
Angela blinked, unsure.
Owen lowered his voice. "We'll ask Uncle Thomas's driver to take us. We'll just take a quick look and come right back. Mommy won't know."
Angela nodded, excited. "I'll get the gift I prepared for Daddy."
She ran upstairs and back down soon. Haley glanced at her. "Angela, slow down. Don't fall."
Angela said guiltily, "Okay, Mommy. I won't run so fast next time. Can I go play with Owen?"
Haley nodded.
Owen had already convinced the driver. Angela and Owen sneaked into the back seat, and the car headed towards Hinterlands.
With rebels causing trouble and internal conflicts, security around the Black Gang was tighter.
The driver stopped and said worriedly, "Owen, Angela, we should go back. It's not safe here."
He got no response.
Looking back, he found that Angela and Owen had vanished.
