Chapter 99 Didn't Your Children Die Four Years Ago?
Seeing Haley approaching, Keith quickly stood up and left. As soon as he took two steps, his phone vibrated. He glanced at it, and the caller ID said ‘Mother’.
He pursed his thin lips, similar to Ivan's, and answered the call. As soon as he answered, a sobbing voice came from the other end of the phone, "Keith, I'm finished, I'm done this time..."
Keith furrowed his brow, “Mother, take your time and tell me what happened. I’m listening.”
"Haley plotted against me. I was forced to resign as the General Manager of the DeRoss Group, and I can no longer enter the board of directors..." Emily cried out, "I am the heir to the DeRoss Group, the second-largest shareholder of the company. I can't accept this... Keith, please help me. You must help me..."
Keith’s eyebrows furrowed even tighter, “How could something like this happen?”
How could the major shareholder of a company be forced to leave the board for no reason?
He said slowly, “Mother, did you do something that angered the board of directors?”
"I... I..." Emily broke down in tears, "Last year on your birthday, in order to buy you a gift, I... I embezzled one billion dollars from the DeRoss Group's funds... Haley somehow found the evidence and publicly forced me to resign..."
"Embezzlement, that is unforgivable." Keith said coldly, "Mother, stop crying. You were in the wrong."
"Keith, how can you say the same things as those people... Yes, I made a mistake, but is Haley right? She intentionally revealed the evidence in front of so many people and used every means to force me out of the board.”
“She is a hungry wolf, willing to devour everything the DeRoss family has! Keith, I ended up like this because I wanted to buy you a birthday gift. You must help me this time!"
Keith's expression was cold and indifferent. On his last birthday, he received a piece of jade as a gift. He knew a little about jade, and the jade his mother gave him was worth at most two million dollars.
But now, his mother claimed that she embezzled one billion dollars because of him. She easily threw such a big blame on his shoulders. This was his mother's true nature. What a selfish woman.
Keith sneered, “So, mother, how do you want me to help you?”
"I want Haley to have a bad ending!" Emily gritted her teeth and said, "Keith, I know you're smart, and you must have a way! I'm your mother, and I've suffered so much injustice. You must help me seek justice!"
Keith held the phone without speaking. "Keith! Can you hear me?" Emily's voice sounded somewhat mad. "If you won't help me, then I'll do it myself!"
"Fine, I'll help you." Keith hung up the phone coldly.
His mother's methods were too cold and cruel; he didn't want her to commit a crime. If they had to deal with Haley, then he himself would handle it. He would silently make this woman pay the price. Keith stopped and stood at the entrance of the restaurant, waiting.
Haley hurriedly followed him out, visibly relieved when she saw that he hadn't left. She smiled gently, her face carrying warmth, and spoke softly.
"Little one, do you remember me?" Her voice was gentle. Keith's annoyed mood strangely calmed down.
He lifted his head, locked eyes with Haley, and spoke in a calm tone, "I remember."
Haley’s smile deepened. “Last time, you helped me, and I didn’t get a chance to thank you yet. How about I give you a present?”
"No need." Keith stared at her, his lips suddenly sharpened. "You just need to answer one question for me."
Haley paused for a moment. This child's presence was unexpectedly strong. And why did this stern face look somewhat familiar?
