Chapter 1007

In under a minute, Camilla quickly scribbled her name on the contract.

Two weeks later, she'd be heading to Watertown to be Ivan's secretary. The profits from this gig would be her pay.

Luke let out a sigh of relief. "See you in two weeks, Miss Jenkins."

Camilla grinned. "It won't take that long. I'm heading to Watertown in two days for the Internet Expo."

"That's awesome," Luke said, genuinely pleased. "The Winston Group will make sure you're well taken care of."

"Thanks in advance." Camilla smiled as she saw Luke out.

Since she was going to be Ivan's secretary, she needed to get a read on him beforehand. Knowing what kind of person he was would keep her from being caught off guard.

Watertown.

The Winston Villa was nestled halfway up a secluded hill. The balcony provided a view of the ocean, while the front door overlooked lush greenery.

In the living room, someone was playing a beautiful piano piece, calm and soothing.

Angela, dressed in a white princess dress, sat at the piano with her eyes half-closed, swaying gently with the music.

"Keith, don't you think Angela's been acting a bit strange these past couple of days?" Owen closed his book and whispered.

Keith nodded. "She canceled her last two tour performances."

"Angela seems to have something on her mind," Todd said slowly. "I asked her, but she wouldn't talk about it."

The piano music suddenly turned slow and heavy, like waves crashing against rocks, making everyone feel a bit down.

Owen got up and walked over. "Angela, stop playing and come chat with us."

Angela's fingers halted, and the music stopped abruptly. She looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, ready to spill any second.

"Angela, what's wrong?"

Owen quickly wiped Angela's tears. Keith and Todd also rushed over, surrounding her with concern.

"I'm fine," Angela's voice was a bit raspy. "I just miss Mommy."

The mention of Mommy made the room fall silent, the atmosphere so heavy it was almost suffocating.

"It's all my fault," Owen said, holding his head in his hands to hide his emotions. "I cried and scared Mommy away four years ago. She left and never came back. Mommy abandoned us."

"Owen, don't say that," Angela interrupted. "Mommy would never abandon us."

"But why hasn't she come back in four years?" Owen's eyes filled with tears. "If Mommy still wants us, why hasn't she come back to see us? Doesn't she know we're going crazy missing her? No, it's my fault. "

Angela tightly gripped Owen's hand.

Four years ago, Haley stood by Owen's bed with a fruit knife. Owen cried in fear, and she left home in the middle of the night.

Since then, Haley never came back. That night became an unshakable nightmare for Owen.

Owen always felt that Haley never came back because of what happened that night.
