Chapter 803
It was already five o'clock in the afternoon, when Haley returned with the kids from the Lumi family.
Owen was the most excited, chattering all the way.
"Grandpa Lumi said I have a talent for drawing and that my drawings would stand out in a national children's art competition."
"Grandpa Lumi said he could teach me to draw every weekend. Mommy, can you come with me every week?"
Haley patted Owen's little head and said, "Drawing is a very tedious task. It's not something you can sustain with just a fleeting interest. Are you really willing to stick with it?"
Owen nodded vigorously, "Mommy, I will draw every day like Angela."
"That's great," Haley said with a gentle smile, "Tomorrow, I'll take you to the market to buy professional art supplies and paper. For now, get some good rest."
"Thank you, Mommy!"
Owen happily went off to play with Angela.
Haley donned an apron and went to the kitchen, as Ivan had prepared breakfast, she decided to make dinner.
The kitchen was stocked with various fresh ingredients, with a pound of salmon being dealt, and she prepared a delicious salmon dish, roasted meat, pan-fried steak, and borscht. A simple dinner was ready.
Just as the food was served, Ivan came home.
After changing his shoes at the door, he took off his black face mask.
Angela was the first to rush over, "Daddy, why do you wear a face mask every day?"
"Because I have a scar on my face, which will frighten people who are already afraid of me.," Ivan answered her softly, then lifted her, tossing her in the air and catching her again.
Owen jumped up and down excitedly, "Me too, me too!"
"Alright, stop bothering your dad. Go wash your hands and get ready to have dinner," Haley said as she took off her apron and set the table.
The kids quickly went to wash their hands.
Though it wasn't as lavish as the chef's, Haley's cooking was also delicious. The four kids and Ivan were all very satisfied.
Haley set aside portions of each dish and had Alfred take them upstairs to Brenda.
Brenda had been ill with worry, and her health had been poor for a long time.
She had been coughing during the cold spell and had little to talk about with Haley and Ivan, so she spent the day in her room.
It wasn't a good thing to let it go. Haley knew that.
But after all, she was an outsider to the Winston family, and Brenda's mental distress needed Ivan to help with.
It was up to Ivan whether he wanted to resolve them or not.
The four kids played in the yard after dinner as Haley had Katherine, previously confined on the third floor, brought downstairs.
After three days of confinement, Katherine hadn't changed much, except that her emerald green eyes were a bit dull.
Pitt prepared the tools needed for hypnosis and said coldly, "In theory, the second hypnosis stage should help you recall most of your memories. Katherine, don't play tricks."
Haley said calmly, "If the second stage can cure your amnesia, then you can leave the Winston family early."
"I want to see Martin first," Katherine said firmly, biting her lower lip. "Who knows if Martin is dead at your hands? Unless I see Martin alive and well, I'd rather be locked up by you forever."
Ivan glanced at her coldly, "You really want to see Martin?"
Katherine clenched her back teeth, "If Martin is dead, I won't let you off."
"You and Martin may casually take others' lives, but that doesn't mean everyone is like that," Haley said calmly. "We'll let you see him since you want. Just don't be too disappointed."
