Chapter 337

Ivan held Haley's hand tightly, and she couldn't break free.

"You said we only had to pretend to be affectionate in front of your mother. This is breaking our agreement!" Haley growled through gritted teeth.

Ivan's tone remained cool. "Owen and Angela want us to be together. Do you want to disappoint the kids?"

Haley looked over to see Owen and Angela chatting closely. Their eyes were bright and hopeful, like little lanterns in the night.

Her heart softened unexpectedly.

The original reason she agreed to have Ivan pretend to be her boyfriend was to make up for something for the kids...

"Mr. Winston, what are you doing?" Todd walked over, his small face full of anger, and pushed Ivan away forcefully. "Let go of my mommy!"

Ivan would not stoop to pick a fight with a child, so he let go of Haley's hand.

"Mommy, did he bully you?" Todd asked, his lips quivering. His young face showed maturity and stubbornness beyond his years.

"No, Mr. Winston didn't bully Mommy," Haley reassured him, patting his head.

"I saw him grab your hand, and you struggled to get away twice," Todd said solemnly, frustrated that at his young age, he had to watch someone push his mother around.

"It really was nothing..." Haley explained with difficulty. "Mr. Winston and I were just playing around."
Todd stared with dark eyes, confused as to why this was a joke when clearly Ivan was pressuring Mommy to do things she didn't want to...

As he was about to ask more, Ivan walked over again, his hand finding its way to Haley's shoulder.
Haley stiffened.
She suddenly regretted suggesting that this man be her boyfriend...
They had agreed not to get physical, but ever since leaving the concert hall, his hands had been restless...
She wanted to pull away, but then she saw Todd puffing up his dark eyes, his face filled with anger like a little lion ready to pounce...

"Todd, don't get the wrong idea, actually..." Haley paused, then said, "I'm dating Mr. Winston, and it's normal for us to hold hands and hug. Mr. Winston isn't bullying Mommy, so don't be mad..."

Todd's angry face turned to shock. "Mommy, what are you saying? Are you dating him? Why?"

It's just..." Haley struggled to explain, "When two people like each other, they date to try it out. Todd, I hope you can understand Mommy..."

"Wow! Haley, are you serious? You're really dating my dad?" Owen jumped three feet high. "Does that mean I can call you Mommy from now on?"

Angela tilted her head and asked, "Can I call Mr. Winston Daddy then?"
She rarely spoke; her voice was coarse, but each word was very clear, soft, and mushy, revealing an innocence and a suppressed excitement.

Haley wanted to nod.
Because she was Owen's Mommy.
Because Ivan was Angela's Daddy.
But she dared not nod.
She slowly turned her face toward Ivan.
The man's cold profile revealed a gentle hue. Softly he said, "Angela, haven't you always called me Daddy? As long as your Mommy doesn't object, you can keep calling me that."

Angela's eyes sparkled, looking hopefully at Haley.
Haley nodded with difficulty: "You can."

"Daddy!"
Angela joyfully threw herself into Ivan's arms, dancing with happiness.
