Chapter 39 The Car Chase

Haley glanced at her watch, on her wrist, and saw that it was already past 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Preschool was about to let out. She had unknowingly spent so much time at the Winston family's place.

Originally, she had intended to visit the studio, but now it was getting late, so she had to go straight to the preschool to pick up the two children. Haley drove to the preschool and waited at the entrance for a while, then she saw the two children walking out, holding hands. Surrounding the two children were also a group of other kids.

“Todd, you were amazing today. You must be the most talented kid at our preschool!”

"Todd, you look so handsome. I want to be friends with you too. Can you sit with me tomorrow?"

“I want to sit with my sister,” Todd replied calmly. “If you want to be friends with my sister, then I will be your friend too.”

"Angela is so beautiful. If I play with her, I will surely become a beautiful princess too!"

"I want to be friends with Angela too!"

So, the other children gathered around Angela. However, the children all knew that Angela didn't like to speak and didn't like to be touched, so even though they surrounded her and talked to her, they never crossed that line. Angela didn't show any resistance, but no matter what the kids said, she didn't react at all.

Watching this scene, Haley felt extremely relieved. She really didn't expect that these kids, would be willing to be friends with Angela. Walking in her high heels, Haley approached and immediately attracted a chorus of exclamations.

"Wow, Todd, is this your mom? She's so beautiful!"

"Your mom looks like a goddess from the sky. No wonder both of you are so good-looking!" The children chattered around Haley.

Haley smiled gently and said, "Eat more fruits and drink more water, and your skin will become fair and beautiful. You'll become more and more beautiful, trust me!"

The beauty-conscious girls secretly kept this advice in mind. After saying goodbye to the other children, Todd held Angela’s hand and got into the car.

Haley drove with a smile and said, "It seems like the teachers and children at this preschool have great character. I believe Angela will be able to make friends here."

Todd nodded and said, "The children are all very friendly, and Angela, is not rejecting them either, so don’t worry, Mommy.”

As long as he was there, no one would dare to bully or underestimate Angela. Seeing this, Haley felt more at ease and didn't say anything more. She focused on driving. Todd turned his head and looked at the scenery outside the window, which was slowly receding.

Suddenly, his little brow wrinkled, and he pursed his lips. "Mommy, the black car behind us has been following us."

Haley furrowed her brows and looked at the rearview mirror. Sure enough, there was a black van following her car not too far away. She gripped the steering wheel and made a left turn. The black car followed.

The minivan followed up, with a left turn. She made a right turn, and the car followed suit, maintaining a distance of about fifty meters from her.

"Todd, hold your sister tightly. Mommy will shake off that car first!"

Haley stepped on the accelerator, and the car swiftly drove on the main road, constantly overtaking others. But obviously, the driver of the black minivan was skilled. No matter how fast she accelerated, the car still closely followed behind.

Todd furrowed his eyebrows tightly, “Mommy, let’s go to the restaurant first and see who they really are.”

Under these circumstances, that seemed like the only temporary solution. Haley turned the steering wheel and was about to park the car in front of a restaurant when suddenly, a loud noise came from behind.

She looked through the rearview mirror and saw that the minivan had been hit by a small car. The rear of the van was deeply dented, rendering it unable to move any further. The minivan driver, feeling guilty, didn’t even dare to get out and ask for compensation. Instead, they drove away in the wrecked minivan.

The door of the small car was pushed open, and a man wearing a gray suit got out. This was a man who would cause an uproar wherever he went. His eyes were brown, emitting a mesmerizing glow under the evening lights. The man, with his long legs, walked to Haley’s car.

Leaning against the window, he tapped on the door and smirked, “Haley, as I said, we would meet again.”

Haley rolled down the window, staring at him coldly with a mocking smile, “You really are a flirt wherever you go.”

Thomas Ellenstein, a second-generation wealthy individual she met abroad, was also well-known as a playboy in the wealthy circles overseas. The first time they met, this flirt pursued her crazily. Eventually, after getting beaten up by her a couple of times, he finally gave up bothering her.

After he stopped pursuing her, the two gradually became friends. Before she returned to her home country, they had a meal together as a farewell dinner. She genuinely thought they would never meet again, as Thomas settled overseas, and she would not go abroad again.
Who would have thought that this flirt, would come to Cuenca?

“Thomas, how did you end up here?” Todd’s little head leaned over, tilting to the side as he asked.

“Hey, Todd, how many times do I have to tell you, calling me Thomas is too formal. Call me Dad, it’ll be closer.” Thomas roughly ruffled Todd’s hair, smirking, “Even if you don’t want to call me Dad, I can accept the term ‘godfather.’”

Todd moved away from his hand, calmly pursing his pink lips, “I can do it as long as my mommy says it’s alright.”

Thomas rolled his eyes. If this woman, Haley, agreed, even the sun would rise from the west.
He winked flirtatiously and looked at the well-behaved little girl, “Angela is still the cutest. Come, let me hold her.”

He forcefully squeezed into the back seat, taking Angela into his arms. Although the little girl had no reaction, she didn’t reject Thomas touching her hair at all. So he continued to brazenly ruffle her hair. The little girl had fluffy, soft hair.

Haley chuckled and shook her head. There were no more than five people in the world who could be accepted by Angela, and Thomas was one of them.

As she drove, Haley asked, “How long are you staying in Cuenca this time?”

“Until you get tired of me,” Thomas playfully replied, “Haley, it’s been so long since I had your cooking. I really want to eat it. Today, I want to try every specialty dish in Cuenca.”

“You wish!” Haley glared at him. “I’ll cook you a meal, and after you finish eating, you better leave.”

She went to the supermarket to buy ingredients before returning home. Thomas carried Angela out of the car and looked amazed.

“Wow, this villa is impressive. How did you afford such a nice villa?”
