Chapter 873
Angela was on the brink of bawling, "Does Mommy not like me anymore?"
Todd scooped her up in a hug. "Nah, kiddo. Mommy's just got some urgent stuff to handle."
"The Lumi Group heir election is a big deal for her," Keith said, all calm and collected. "She had to move out. Owen, quit making a fuss."
Owen fidgeted, looking all torn up. "I know I messed up. I'll go say sorry to Mommy right now."
Todd shook his head. "Let her cool off first."
"Your folks just moved closer to the project site, not outta town or anything. If you miss 'em, I can take you to see 'em anytime. No biggie," Brenda said with a grin. "Owen, stop crying, or you'll get Angela going too. Dry those tears."
Owen nodded and wiped his face all sloppy-like.
Angela started to calm down too.
About twenty minutes later, the bedroom door upstairs creaked open, and Haley stood by the railing. "Didn't you say you'd help me pack? Why aren't you up here yet?"
Owen tiptoed upstairs. "Mommy, are you still mad?"
"I wasn't really mad, just messing with you," Haley said with a smile. "Were you crying? You're a big boy now, no more tears, okay?"
Owen nodded like crazy. "Yes, ma'am! After you and Daddy move out, I'll protect Angela!"
"Good boy. I'll reward you when I get back."
Haley smiled and led the kids into the master bedroom.
Todd sniffed the air and wrinkled his nose. "Why do I smell blood?"
Keith frowned too. "Yeah, there's a blood smell."
Ivan slipped on his suit jacket, his left arm hanging a bit weird, but the kids didn't notice.
He said calmly, "The chef's cleaning fish. The smell must've drifted up here."
With that, the kids didn't think much of it.
Haley pulled out a suitcase and smiled. "Keith, grab me some jackets, sweaters, and down coats. Owen, sort out my high heels, five or six pairs. Todd, pick out some dresses; I might need 'em for a party. Angela, can you organize my makeup stuff?"
Haley quickly gave out tasks and started packing Ivan's clothes.
"It's not fair," Owen pouted. "We're helping Mommy pack, Mommy packs for Daddy, and Daddy just sits there. Mommy loves Daddy the most; we're just a big 'oops'!"
Ivan smirked. "You are big 'oops', but the best kind."
Without these kids, he and Haley would've never crossed paths.
They finished packing, and it was getting dark outside.
Even though Owen tried to accept it, he was still bummed. "Mommy, can't you move out tomorrow morning?"
Haley bent down and said softly, "There are people waiting for me to have a meeting. I gotta leave today."
Then she looked at Keith. "As the oldest, you gotta help Grandma take care of your siblings. If anything happens, call your daddy."
Todd pouted, "Can't we call you, Mommy?"
"The stuff at Lumi Group is crazy. I might be in meetings all the time, so just contact Daddy. He'll get the message to me."
After giving more instructions, Haley and Ivan finally dragged their suitcases out of the Winston Group villa.
