Chapter 905
Angela made a wild grab, but Haley was too quick, sidestepping her. Instead, she locked eyes with Todd.
The voice in her head was getting louder and more insistent.
"Haley." Ivan strolled over and pulled her into a hug. "You look exhausted. Let's get you upstairs."
He tried to steer her up the stairs, but she yanked herself free with a burst of strength.
She crouched down in front of Todd, her voice barely a whisper, "Todd, I gotta make a call here."
Todd, like he saw it coming, stayed cool, "Mommy, go ahead."
"Leave Winston Villa." Each word felt like a knife, but she pushed through, "Don't stay here anymore. Go wherever you want."
Even though he kinda expected it, Todd was still floored, speechless for a moment.
"Haley, are you serious? He's just a four-year-old kid." Brenda couldn't believe it, "Where do you think he's gonna go alone?"
Ivan's eyes turned dark as he walked over, "Todd, did you hear your mommy?"
"Yeah." Todd forced the words out, "I'll move out today."
"Todd, don't take this seriously." Brenda snapped, "As long as I'm here, no one's kicking you out."
"I'm not joking." Haley said quietly, "Mom, I need you to move out too."
"What did you just say?" Brenda was stunned, "Haley, explain yourself."
"Mom, take the kids to Country Y." Haley's fists clenched, her voice steady. "Once Ivan and I sort this out, we'll come get you."
"That's crazy!" Brenda scolded, "It's almost Christmas. Who leaves the country now?"
"Mommy, is it 'cause we were bad? Why are you sending us away?" Owen's voice cracked. "I'll be good, I promise. Please don't send us away."
Angela clung to Haley's clothes, sobbing too hard to talk. Keith just stood there, silent.
Haley shut her eyes. Martin, that heartless jerk, if he could target Todd, he could go after the other kids too.
She couldn't risk it.
"We're not going to Country Y." Ivan cut in, "Mom, take the kids home for now. I'll be in touch."
Brenda, sensing something, left the villa with the four heartbroken kids, not saying another word.
As soon as they were gone, the living room felt like a ghost town.
Haley collapsed on the sofa, her voice full of despair, "Ivan, the kids can't stay in Watertown. Martin hates us too much; he won't leave them alone."
"Martin knows Country Y too well, my mom's place. Leaving them there would be dangerous." Ivan cupped her face, serious, "The order was to send Todd away, right?"
Haley nodded, the pain in Todd's eyes stabbing her heart.
"I'll send Todd to the Martinez Villa. That'll fulfill the order." Ivan said calmly, "My people are tracking Martin. We'll have him in three days. Haley, don't worry, I've got you."
Haley lowered her eyes, unsure if she could wait three days.
But before nightfall, Martin's voice echoed in her mind again.
