Chapter 881
Witnessed by Bark and Cauth, Hollis finally lowered her noble head. "Haley, I'm sorry."
"It's cool, no biggie," Haley waved it off. "Got some stuff to handle, so I'm out."
She turned and left the study, her heels clicking on the floor. Cauth quickly followed. "Haley, won't you stay for a meal?"
"I already ate before coming here. Can't stuff more in when I'm still full," Haley grinned. "Dad, no need to see me off. I'm bouncing now."
Cauth reluctantly took a few more steps to see her off. Even though he had found Haley back, he rarely got to see her. His fatherly love had no outlet.
"Haley, hang on a sec," Cauth said. "I got you some stuff yesterday. Take it with you."
Haley was about to refuse, but Cauth had already gone inside. In no time, he came back down lugging several big bags.
"These are some dresses I thought you'd like. And these bags contain gemstone jewelry. Your mom used to love this stuff, figured you might too."
He had no clue what to get a woman in her twenties, so he bought some trendy jewelry, clothes, and skincare products.
Looking at Cauth's aging face, Haley sighed inwardly. Cauth's love for her wasn't just paternal; it was also filled with regret and guilt towards her mom.
Haley was about to thank him when she suddenly felt a sharp pain at the back of her head. That feeling again. Cauth loved her, and she felt that love, triggering the chip's command once more.
Haley's eyes turned cold. "I don't need any of this. I'm out."
She quickly left the Lumi Family villa. Cauth stood there holding several bags, unable to catch up with her.
Haley walked to the greenery at the entrance of the Lumi Family villa, breathing heavily. That feeling of being controlled was finally suppressed.
It seemed she had finally found a way to fight against that voice in her body. As long as she stayed indifferent and refused to feel that love, she could live and work normally. But with so many people loving her, could she really stay indifferent?
"Haley, what's up?" A figure approached and wrapped an arm around her slender waist.
Haley was startled. "Weren't you heading to the Winston Group? How'd you get here so fast?"
"Not much to handle at the Winston Group, so I skipped it," Ivan said, holding her as they got into the car. "What happened?"
"Just a minor hiccup with the project," Haley said with a lighthearted smile. "Let's head home."
