Chapter 702
"Did someone just ask you to pass a message saying she wants to be Leonardo's mistress?" Isabel fiddled with her long red nails. "Tell me, how much did that woman pay you?"
"Nothing," Louis stammered, breaking into a sweat. "She is beautiful, and I felt sorry for her, so I passed the message."
Isabel smirked. She pulled out a card from her purse and handed it over. "Here's a hundred grand, which is a few years of your salary. Take this money and stop introducing women to Leonardo. Also, inform all the guards in your security team that no woman is allowed near him."
Louis was stunned. "What do you mean?"
"Leonardo's the guy I've got my eye on. Anyone who crosses me is crossing my dad." Isabel's lips curled into a smile. "If you take the money and don't do the job, my dad will pull out your nails one by one and toss you into the ocean to feed the fish."
With that, she swayed her hips and caught up with Leonardo.
Louis held the card, feeling anything but happy. If other guards introduced women to Leonardo in the future, would Isabel blame him, too? Taking a hundred grand was painful for him.
Louis sighed heavily and slowly walked towards the banquet hall.
Haley and Thomas were chatting in the corner of the lounge area. Out of the corner of his eye, Thomas saw Louis walking out from the back, looking dejected.
"Looks like things didn't go well." Thomas squinted. "What's the next move?"
Haley took a sip of champagne and said calmly, "Don't rush. The party's just getting started. There'll be plenty of chances."
She sat in the lounge area, quietly observing the conversations around her, and soon heard someone talking about Leonardo.
A few socialites were sitting in the corner, drinking and chatting.
"I heard Quillan wants to marry his daughter to Leonardo. Think Leonardo will go for it?"
"Quillan's nuts, sending his daughter to an ugly guy just to protect his interests."
"Is Leonardo really that ugly?"
"If he wasn't, why would he wear a mask? He must be disfigured."
"So what if he's disfigured? Leonardo's so powerful. He wiped out the August family. Marrying him would only make Quillan's family stronger."
"But he's rolling out new policies that are hitting a lot of industries hard. It's already causing a lot of backlash. If this keeps up, Leonardo's downfall is just a matter of time."
"That depends on if anyone can actually take him out."
"Shut up, Leonardo's here!"
Everyone's eyes turned to the west side.
Haley looked that way, too.
Leonardo stepped into view, dressed in a black suit. His deep eyes stood out in the crowd.
He had a tall, commanding presence, and his gaze was intense.
That familiar feeling washed over her again, and Haley couldn't help but stand up. She started walking in his direction.
Leonardo had a magnetic pull on her.
She couldn't resist wanting to get closer.
"Stop."
Louis stepped in just in time and blocked Haley.
He lowered his voice. "I passed on your message, but Leonardo's not interested. Don't go looking for trouble."
Then Louis added, "See the woman next to Leonardo? She's a top member of the Black Gang, Quillan's daughter, and Leonardo's fiancée. If you mess with Leonardo in front of her, you're asking for trouble."
