Haley leaned back in her chair, lips curling in a faint smile. "Maybe money is coming for me. Let them in."
These days, Haley had been feeling down, and only making money could give her a moment of pleasure.
Hollis and Ava walked into the meeting room one after the other. After Ariana served them coffee, they sat down beside Haley.
Haley put on a fake smile. "Ms. Lumi, Ms. Evans, what brings you here?"
Ava turned her head aside. She seemed full of resentment.
"I need to first congratulate you on your recent marriage." Hollis sipped her coffee and continued softly, "I just heard today that Ava offended you at the last Vanguard Corporation chip design presentation, so I brought her here to apologize. Please be magnanimous, Haley. Ava is still a child; don't take it to heart."
Haley calmly replied, "Ava is twenty-two this year, isn't she? She's a year younger than me. I don't think someone at that age can still be called a child."
That remark angered Ava once again.
Her face flushed with anger. She started to say something, but Hollis pressed her hand, and she stopped.
"Ms. Lumi, it seems Ava doesn't want to apologize." Haley smiled brightly and said, "Since she doesn't want to apologize, there's no need to keep up the act. Why don't you just say what the purpose of your visit is today? Perhaps we can still have a discussion."
Hollis's gaze fell on Haley's face with a hint of scrutiny.
Haley was very clever. Hollis hadn't said a word, yet she had guessed the purpose of their visit.
No wonder Ivan had ignored social status to marry Haley.
Hollis withdrew his scrutinizing gaze and softly said, "In that case, I’ll get straight to the point. The Lumi Group and Star Technical Technology are collaborating to develop a chip for the Vanguard Corporation’s project. We’ve done twenty percent of the work for the first phase. The work for the remaining eighty percent is too hard, so the Lumi Group technical staff cannot complete it. I would like to ask you to lend a hand."
Haley calmly responded, "We are all partners in the business world. If I can help, I will. However, if I help you, what benefits will I gain in return?"
In the business world, interests were paramount.
Hollis had already prepared a contract. She said, "The service fee for this chip design is forty million. The Lumi Group will not take a penny of this service fee. Additionally..."
She continued, "In terms of the later product sales share, the Lumi Group will takes forty percent, and Star Technical Technology will take sixty percent."
Haley narrowed her eyes in thought.
The profit of this project was divided into two parts. The first part was the service fee, which was paid upon completion.
The second part was the profit sharing. Every designer would receive a share for every product sold with this chip embedded in it.
Haley chuckled and said, "So, this chip will be independently completed by Star Technical Company. Then tell me, why do I only get six percent of the share in the end? It's not profitable for me at all."
Hollis narrowed her eyes and said, "So, are you refusing to cooperate?"
"Of course not." Haley shook her head and said, "In terms of profit sharing, it should be eight for me, and two for you."
Hollis's face turned cold as she said, "Ms. DeRoss, young people like you should learn to be modest and yield."
"The Lumi Group doesn't need to spend any time or effort on chip design. In the end, you’ll get a twenty percent profit share without doing anything. You’ll gain from that." Haley calmly lifted her coffee cup and said, "If you think I'm being unreasonable, please leave."
"You!" Ava stood up in anger and said, "Haley, just because you married into the Winston family doesn't mean we have to bow down to you! Even if Ivan himself stood here, he wouldn't dare pick on us like this!"
Haley put down her cup heavily, her sharp eyes scanning the room.
