Chapter 844
"Hey Haley, I've got two solid managers under me who've been handling other parts of the Lumi Group's biz. I told 'em to help you out," Bark said, all chill. "With their help, you'll nail this project."
Haley was kinda taken aback. She remembered Bark not giving her the time of day at that banquet. What made him flip the script after just one meeting?
Haley grinned and said, "Grandpa, the election's gotta be fair. If I take this help, Ava's gonna have a field day. Winning like that wouldn't feel right."
"Is it fair for them to win now?" Bryan, being young and hot-headed, couldn't hide his frustration. "Out of more than fifty top execs, over forty are team Ava. It'd be a real shocker if they lost."
Haley found his anger kinda funny. "So you think they can't lose?"
Bryan just pressed his lips together, staying silent. The scale of the two projects was way different, and the people involved were on totally different levels. This race was lopsided from the get-go, making the outcome pretty obvious.
"Grandpa, Dad, Bryan, chill out," Haley said with a smile. "I don't need Lumi Family folks; I've got my own connections."
In the six months she'd been in Watertown, her two companies had racked up a ton of resources and connections. A resort project? No biggie.
"Let my two managers help you," Bark said calmly. "Even Hollis wouldn't dare question it. They've been with the Lumi Family forever. They were working under me when I was your age. With them knowing everything about the Lumi Family, you'll crush this project."
It was tough to turn down such a nice offer, especially from someone like Bark. Haley accepted without a fuss.
Looked like Bark had seen this coming and had already called the two managers back.
One was Oscar Walker, the big boss of the southern region, and the other was Quentin Turner, the top dog of the northern region. They'd both busted their butts for forty years to get where they were, known for their steady and experienced approach.
"Haley, chat with your team first. If you got any questions, hit me up," Bark said before bouncing out of the conference room.
"Haley, I'm part of the Lumi Group too. I wanna join your project," Bryan said. "I might not be super capable, but I can learn."
Haley nodded, pleased. "Alright, you'll be working with me for the next month."
She wasn't interested in the heir's spot and planned to pass it on to Bryan eventually.
Cauth was stoked, never imagining Haley and Bryan would get along so well. He left the room, giving them some space.
Haley was the main boss, backed by Bryan, Lester, and Maurice Chambers. Plus, Oscar and Quentin, set up by Bark, were on the team. So, they were a squad of six.
Lester had some experience with resort projects, so he kicked things off by explaining the basics.
"The initial investment for this project is $500 million, with another $500 million planned for the mid-term, and more cash depending on how things go later. The project planning's done, and we're in the development stage. It's in the coastal area of Watertown, aiming to build a seaside amusement park resort."
Haley nodded. What Lester said matched what she'd heard from Ivan.
This project was pretty solid, but compared to the petrochemical project, its profitability and influence were on a whole different level.
Haley was about to speak when she saw Oscar stroke his chin. She smiled and said, "Oscar, got something on your mind?"
