Chapter 13 I need your help
Everyone was shocked, and nobody dared to stop her.
"Louis, are you alright?"
"I-I'm fine!" Louis struggled to stand up, paying no attention to the pain in his body.
He said excitedly, "Did you all hear that? The beauty just said that I am still as shameless and low as before! That means she knows me. I told you, I must know her, I just can't remember at the moment!"
Mark rolled his eyes, "Your reputation as Mr. Granger, the playboy, is well-known in all of Cuenca."
Ivan walked over with an air of coldness.
Mark pulled Louis aside, "This woman has caught Ivan's attention, you better be careful."
Louis spoke boldly, "Caught his attention? Does Ivan want to find a stepmother for his two brats at home?"
Ivan snorted.
He had no intention of marrying even the biological mother of his two sons, let alone marrying a stepmother into the Winston family...
Moreover, that woman seemed to have a daughter as well...
He was just about to warn Louis to stay away from married women with children when his phone vibrated.
Glancing at it quickly, it was the Winston family's bodyguard.
"Sir, it's not good. Master Owen has sneaked out again!"
...
Haley left the Pink Seaside Club and didn't dare to drive to the cemetery.
She wrapped her black coat tightly and hailed a cab on the main road.
She was beautiful, and her figure was particularly attention-grabbing. She opened the door of the cab and got in. Haley gave the driver instructions to take her to the lakeside villa.
The driver of the car kept looking at her from the rearview mirror. However, her face was too cold, her eyes like two icy knives, intimidating.
The driver had a thief's heart but not the guts, and he dropped her off at the lakeside villa area.
Haley paid and walked into the residential area.
As soon as she set foot inside the community, a soft voice rang out from behind.
"Lady, stop."
This voice seemed familiar...
Haley turned around and saw a fair and tender little boy standing behind her.
Wasn't this the child she met at the airport the day before yesterday?
She asked in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
Owen looked at her and approached step by step, his eyes greedily fixed on the woman in front of him.
As soon as the bodyguard found out about her whereabouts, he rushed over without caring about anything else.
He just wanted to see her!
He didn't know why!
Haley looked behind him, there was no one there, and she frowned, "You didn't sneak out again, did you?"
"Absolutely not!"
Owen denied without thinking, but his denial was too quick, revealing a hint of guilt.
He pursed his thin pink lips and said, "My cat is missing. I came to look for it. Can you help me find it?"
Haley couldn't refuse a four-year-old child, so she gently spoke, "What color is your cat and how big is it?"
They searched for the cat throughout the community, while the Winston family was in chaos...
Haley searched the entire community with the little boy but couldn't find the cat. She finally realized that she might have been deceived.
She stared coldly at the child in front of her, "Are you really here to find the cat?"
Owen felt a numbness in his heart from being looked at with such eyes.
He wasn't a child who liked to lie.
But if he didn't lie, he wouldn't have a valid excuse to stay with this woman.
He clenched his lips and remained silent.
Haley knew she guessed right, and she calmly said, "What's your name and where do you live? I'll take you back."
Owen suddenly felt wronged.
He ran so far and took such a big risk to see her, but within half an hour of meeting her, she wanted to send him away.
His eyes filled with grievance, almost turning into tears.
Haley's heart was instantly squeezed, a feeling of suffocation spreading throughout her body.
In her own family, her son was obedient and sensible, and her daughter was quiet and introverted, neither of them being the type to cry easily.
It could be said that in the past four years, the two children cried less than five times combined.
But now, a child from another family was about to cry in front of her.
She didn't know why she suddenly felt a hint of pity.
Haley sighed and crouched down.
Gently, she said, "If you don't want to go back, then sit here for a while. But you have to go home eventually, otherwise your parents will worry."
Her voice was soft and gentle, like cotton candy, instantly dissipating Owen's grievances.
He could no longer control the turbulent emotions within him and rushed over, throwing himself into Haley's arms.
Caught off guard, Haley nearly toppled over.
She lifted the little one in her arms and whispered, "There's a children's playground over there, let me take you there to play for a while..."
However, as soon as she turned around, chaotic footsteps suddenly sounded from behind.
Before she could react, she found herself surrounded.
Over a dozen bodyguards dressed in black, exuding an even stronger aura than the DeRoss family's bodyguards.
Haley thought it was Emily sending people after her again, until she saw a man slowly walking towards her from behind the black-clad bodyguards.
It was Ivan.
His powerful presence enveloped him, emanating a chilling vibe. Wherever his gaze fell, it instantly turned into the depths of winter.
Haley could clearly feel the tension in the child in her arms.
She held onto the child tightly and raised an eyebrow, calmly saying, "Mr. Winston, seeing you twice in a day is quite a coincidence."
Ivan looked at the black coat she was wearing, the same one he had draped over her two hours ago.
This woman hadn't even changed her clothes and yet she was making every effort to get close to his son!
He narrowed his eyes, his voice laced with sarcasm, "You seem to know the Winston family quite well from your investigations. What are you trying to do by continuously getting close to the Winston family?"
His two sons were well-protected, and the outside world had no idea about his children. But this woman could accurately approach Owen!
Owen shrunk into Haley's embrace, his face turning pale with fear.
He could sense that his father was angry.
His fate would probably be miserable...
Haley gently patted his back, her brows furrowed, and she coldly said, "Mr. Winston, I also want to ask you, what do you intend to do by bringing so many bodyguards into the residential area where I live?"
The two locked eyes, the air thick with the smell of gunpowder.
The mocking smile on Ivan's lips grew deeper.
This woman really had no fear of death.
He playfully pressed his tongue against his upper palate, coldly stating, "Owen, come here."
At his words, Owen trembled all over.
Haley glanced at the child in her arms, then at Ivan, her eyebrows suddenly raised.
Pursing her lips, she asked, "You're called Owen?"
The little one's face turned even paler.
"I'll count to three. If you don't come over, do you know what the consequences will be?"
Ivan's face became icy, impatience evident in his eyes.
"He hadn't even shouted once when Owen jumped out of Haley's arms. He moved his steps slowly, but before he could reach there, Ivan grabbed him by the collar and threw him into the arms of the bodyguard behind him.
'Take the young master away!' Ivan coldly ordered. The bodyguard dared not disobey and carried the young master away.
Owen stubbornly shouted, 'Father, I snuck out to find this woman myself. It has nothing to do with her. I will accept any punishment, but do not transfer your anger onto others!'
