Chapter 330

After dinner, as the clock struck eight p.m., Haley took the kids home. Ivan wanted to follow, offering to escort them.

"No need," Haley said with a gentle voice, looking back at him. "I hope you will think about what I said."

He watched them get into the car and drive off, only turning away when the taillights vanished down the road.

Haley had asked him to be her boyfriend—her fake boyfriend. If it weren't just for playing the role, he would have instantly agreed.

"Father!" Owen tugged at the hem of his suit. "Do you miss Haley when she leaves?"

I looked down at him, my lips curling slightly with a hint of disdain. "What kind of nonsense are you spouting?"

"That's how they show it on TV, you know. When you miss someone, you watch them until they can't be seen anymore." Owen blinked innocently. "Don't be too sad, Father. Haley will be back tomorrow. She said she'll come every evening to spend time with me, hehehe."

The little guy chuckled, his face lighting up with joy. Then, he suddenly turned serious. "Father, Grandma's birthday party is in a few days. Can you not invite that woman?"

Ivan was still lost in thoughts of Haley and took a moment to catch up. "Which woman?"

"That wicked witch, Emily," Owen muttered, his lip quivering. "Haley doesn't like that wicked witch. If you invite her, she won't come to the party!"

Keith approached us step by step.

Owen turned to him. "Keith, I know what you're going to say, but even if Emily is our mom, I don't like her either."

However, Keith was calm. "Father, I agree. We shouldn't invite Mom. If she comes, she'll undoubtedly clash with Haley. To avoid any unnecessary trouble, let's not send her an invitation."

"I was thinking the same," Ivan said with a nod.

Mentioning Emily reminded Ivan of something. He had asked Louis to look into an incident from five years ago. He strode upstairs and dialed Louis's number.

As soon as the call connected, he could hear the soft music, the sound of a man's heavy breathing, and a woman's sultry laugh.

"Louis, what are you doing?" Ivan asked, a crease forming between his brows and his tone turning colder.

"What else could it be, the same old story between a man and a woman? If you've got something to say, make it quick; I'm swamped!" Louis spoke carelessly. "Oh right, Ivan. You've been riding solo for so long that you probably forgot what it's like. I'll send you an address. You should come over. There are lots of babes with curves and legs here today..."

"Shut up." Ivan cut him off coldly.

Louis, a bit deflated, said, "Fine, spit it out. What do you want?"

"That thing I asked you to look into, how's it going?"

"What thing?"

Ivan gave a faint smirk. "Five years ago, at the King's Hotel."

"Oh, that thing. Yeah, I had someone pull the surveillance tapes. It seems like they were sent to me, but I haven't had a chance to check my emails," Louis said distractedly. Let me finish up here, and I'll forward the video to you. Hang on a bit longer."

"You've got one minute."

The call was abruptly cut off.

Louis, grumbling under his breath, opened his email inbox and forwarded the surveillance video he had received from his assistant.
