Chapter 785
"Katherine?"
Alfred walked into the yard and saw Katherine. He called out to her.
Katherine was a good friend of Brenda, but recently, Katherine had some bad news with Ivan.
If Haley weren't home, he definitely wouldn't have let Katherine in.
Now that Ivan and Haley remained very much in love, he could allow Katherine to see this for herself and dismiss any inappropriate ideas she might have entertained.
Alfred walked over and opened the iron gate with a smile, "Katherine, have you eaten?"
Katherine looked towards the dining room, her whole body trembling.
She took a deep breath and said, "Please tell Mrs. Winston that something came up, and I have to leave."
She turned and hurried away.
Alfred looked at her with disdain. He thought, 'Katherine must have known that Ivan was back, so she came over. But when she saw that Haley was also there, she backed off.'
Girls who liked to ruin other people's families were shameless these days. He couldn't understand how Ivan got involved with a woman like Katherine.
Just as Alfred was about to close the door, a cold voice came from behind him.
"Katherine, since you're here, why not come in and have a seat?" Haley walked over, her gaze cold and her eyes like sharp blades.
Katherine hadn't walked more than two steps when she slowly turned around and met Haley's icy gaze. She bit her lower lip and said, "Don't blame me. Do you think I wanted Martin to find you and wanted you to come back? After you came back, it became even more impossible for he to marry me."
Haley stared at her. "What are you afraid of?"
After she finished speaking, her eyes shifted to a clear cigarette burn below Katherine's collarbone.
Haley narrowed her eyes. "Didn't I tell you to leave Watertown for a few days after we parted at the airport? Not only did you not leave, but you continued to pester Martin, didn't you?"
Katherine clenched her fists tightly.
The thing she regretted most now was staying in Watertown.
After Haley left with her kids, Martin was alwasys mad at her.
If it was Martin who had beaten and humiliated her, she could have accepted it.
But Martin hired eight thugs to harass her, leaving her physically and mentally scarred.
She was a psychologist, and she knew clearly that she had developed psychological issues.
It was all because of the torment Martin had put her through during this time.
"Martin isn't here. Come inside with me."
Haley turned and walked inside.
Katherine, however, couldn't bring herself to move. "Don't lie to me. I saw him."
"What? You can't even recognize the person you love?" Haley sneered. "That's not Martin."
Katherine was stunned and shocked.
She quickly took a few steps inside and looked through the window at Ivan's side profile at the dining table.
Just from the side profile, she recognized him, who indeed wasn't Martin.
The person sitting there was Ivan, who was originally confirmed dead!
