Chapter 194
Haley chuckled to herself and cleared the rest of the technical issues.
Amidst her task, Ariana walked in. “Haley, the Winston Group just called. Wondering if you're free at eleven."
Haley nodded. “What's up?"
"They're sending someone over," Ariana said, “I'll get the conference room ready."
The company's first major contract was with the Winston Group, and its success was paramount to everyone here.
Haley agreed, "Could you print out a few copies of the updated design proposal and place them on the conference room table?"
Ariana quickly handled the request.
After giving the A-F project file one last look and feeling confident, Haley stood and made her way to the restroom.
On her way to the front of the building, she bumped into a team from the neighboring office.
The startup next door had been around for a couple of years with about thirty employees. Their progress was steady, if not groundbreaking.
When Haley first moved into the building, it was the neighboring company's owner who had given her a tour and shared insights into the local tech scene. He was an exceptionally friendly and chatty middle-aged man...
She thought well of the owner and greeted him with a smile, "Hey Reid, you seem in a rush—where to?"
Reid looked pleasantly surprised to see Haley.
He stopped and said, "Hey, Haley! I was just heading out for lunch. Join me?"
As Haley was about to politely decline, Reid's assistant chimed in with a knowing look, "Mr. Reid, remember we've got that client meeting. Maybe another time for lunch with Haley."
Reid appeared to consider it, but his assistant reminded him quietly, "We've finally got a sit-down with Kelly from the Winston Group. We can't risk losing our slot. And don't forget, Haley's firm is also in the tech sector. Bringing her to lunch could be a conflict of interest..."
Haley overheard the exchange.
With a playful smile, she said, "I appreciate the offer, Reid, but I've got a lot on my plate. Let's take a raincheck on that lunch."
With that, she walked off toward the restroom in her high heels.
The assistant breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Reid, I know you admire Haley, but we should keep our focus on the business. Once we're more established, you can think about that."
Reid just laughed it off. "Admire? I just respect her work," he said, as they all got into the elevator.
Securing a meeting with the assistant to the CEO of the Winston Group was a big deal for their growing company.
The meeting today was crucial to them.
As they left, a sleek black luxury car pulled up to the building.
They walked by without noticing the man getting out—the CEO of the Winston Group, Ivan.
Ivan headed straight upstairs.
Ariana had been waiting at the entrance. Seeing him again left her momentarily starstruck.
She had met Ivan before when he visited with Louis and Mark. Yet, his presence was still striking.
How could anyone be that attractive? She wondered, feeling a bit plain in comparison.
What kind of woman would be his equal?
Then she thought of Haley, the most captivating woman she knew in the city...
