Chapter 308

Ivan regarded him coolly, "Are you telling me how to handle my business?"

Owen's bravado immediately deflated.

He muttered, "You were wrong in the first place. Is apologizing that hard?"

Keith frowned. "What did Father do wrong?"

Ivan was equally curious about what he had supposedly done wrong.

Owen snorted. "He just did something. Otherwise, Haley wouldn't be upset for no reason!"

With that said, he climbed onto the dining chair, lifted the lid off the insulated container, and began to feast.

"Mmm! This is so good! Haley's chicken wings get better every time!"

He stuffed the chicken wings into his mouth with abandon, cheeks bulging like a little squirrel.

Keith usually only saw the picky side of Owen who refused to eat. His curiosity piqued, and he wondered what the fuss was about these chicken wings.

Seeing Keith eyeing his food box, Owen quickly hugged it to his chest, mumbling, "This is the special dinner Haley made just for me. It's a portion for one, so don't you dare try to take it! You missed out on her cooking the other day because you weren't home. It's super, super good, a hundred times better than what our chef makes..."

The dining room was filled with the sounds of Owen noisily devouring his chicken wings.

Ivan pursed his lips.

He had to admit that Haley's cooking was indeed exceptional.

After tasting it twice, he found himself unable to enjoy the meals prepared by their chef as much, and he couldn't blame Owen for being protective of his food.

"Sir." Alfred approached with a beaming smile." This is the plate we purchased at the auction today. When should it be shipped to Australia? Madam will surely be delighted with her anniversary gift."

Keith turned his head. "Is Grandma celebrating her birthday in Australia again this year?"

"No, she mentioned she's hosting her birthday party back home this year," Owen mumbled through a mouthful of chicken wings. "I video-chatted with her last night. Grandma told me herself."

Ivan spoke with a dispassionate tone, "Let me make a quick call and check."

Pulling out his smartphone, he dialed the Australian number.

Mrs. Winston was enjoying her afternoon tea at the estate, her mobile phone vibrating on the table. She glanced at the caller ID, and a pleased smile curled the corners of her mouth.

The young lady sitting next to her chuckled. "It must be Ivan calling."

With an acknowledging nod and a warm smile, Mrs. Winston answered the phone. "Ivan, have you had lunch yet?"

Ivan replied in a calm voice, "Mom, your birthday is coming up in a few days. Are you celebrating it abroad this year or coming back to the States?"

"I told Owen just yesterday; I'm hosting the party back home this year," Mrs. Winston said with a laugh. "I've been away for too long, and if I don't visit soon, people in our circle might start forgetting I exist. I'll be heading back in a few days; please take care of the party arrangements."

"All right, got it," Ivan responded, then hung up immediately.

A wistful smile lingered on Mrs. Winston's lips, tinged with a hint of bitterness. Her son was always to the point, ending the call immediately after discussing business, never inquiring about her well-being or state of mind.

"Mrs. Winston, so you're really planning to celebrate your birthday back home?" Catherine said with genuine regret. "It seems I'll have to celebrate your birthday with you in advance."

"And how do you propose we celebrate?" Mrs. Winston inquired.

Catherine retrieved two tickets from her purse. "These are for the piano concert tour, featuring a live performance by the renowned Alice, and I heard Mr. Albert will be performing too. These tickets were so hard to come by. I know how much you enjoy piano, so I asked a business associate of my father to secure these..."

"You're thoughtful," Mrs. Winston replied. As a lover of art exhibitions and concerts, she always attended a piano performance, especially one featuring Alice and Albert. She immediately called her driver to take them to the concert venue.
