Chapter 313

"What are you two arguing about?" Ivan pressed his fingers to his temples and sighed, then settled onto the couch.
Owen bit his lip and lodged his complaint, "Father, do you know why Haley hasn't been coming over to our place anymore? It's because Keith launched a covert attack on Haley's company. She's worried Keith might do something to Angela, so she's sworn off visiting the Winston family for good!"
Ivan's brow furrowed. It had been almost a month since Keith interfered with Star Technology's website, and that woman had known about it well beforehand. It didn't make sense for her to harbor anger over it after such a long time.
It must be just as Louis had suggested. Haley was jealous. She cared for him and thus was bothered by his past with Emily.
These past days, he had been too swamped to consider resolving the situation, but now that his schedule had cleared up, he could take his time to work things out. Tomorrow was the third review meeting for the A-F project, and he had to figure out a way to clear the air with her discreetly.
"Father, why aren't you saying anything?"
Owen walked over, tugging at Ivan's arm. Ivan spoke calmly, "This thing with your brother isn't the issue. Your grandmother's birthday celebration is coming up. Find some time to prepare a gift."
With that said, he strode toward the stairs.
Owen clenched his fist. Looking up, he called out, "Father, I want to have my own company just like Keith. Is that possible?"
Ivan paused mid-step and turned, his gaze piercing as it landed on his younger son. "Once you've completed your business administration studies, you can take over one of the subsidiary companies."
"Okay, Father, I will work hard!"
Owen's promise was weighted like a solemn vow. A slow smile curled at the edges of Ivan's mouth. He had been wondering when Owen would start showing the same level of maturity as Keith. It turned out that day had arrived sooner than expected.
After entering his study, Ivan didn't reach for the project files. Instead, he flipped through the directory of subsidiaries under the Winston Group. Established half a century ago, the Winston Group had amassed over a hundred subsidiaries, a blooming garden in the corporate landscape.
Each subsidiary was thriving, their financial books a testament to their prosperity. Ivan couldn't just hand over one of these flourishing companies to Owen; he needed careful planning.
As the night deepened, its tranquility was illuminated by the gentle moonlight.
In the hush of darkness, heavy breaths and the soft moans of a woman intertwined, sketching a scene of intimacy into the quiet night.
The sound, like a siren call to his ears, played like a beautiful instrument, stirring the primal instincts within the man.
Ivan's mind was in a haze, his actions driven solely by bodily desire.
A breeze swept through the room, the bedroom curtains wafted apart, and a sliver of light crept in.
Gradually, Ivan's eyes, heavy with inebriation, fluttered open to behold an exquisitely beautiful face.
The woman's visage, softly illuminated by the dim light, appeared blurred, yet her indistinct features radiated a stunning allure.
This woman...
The woman from five years ago...
He was dreaming of her.
Even as Ivan recognized the dream for what it was, he couldn't extricate himself from its grasp.
He lifted his eyelids again, focusing on the woman's face.
It was still distinct.
Her face drew closer, inch by inch. Then, it finally came into focus.
With a jolt, Ivan awoke.
He opened his eyes to find he had fallen asleep, slumped over in his office chair.
That dream just now...
