Chapter 270 Mrs. DeRoss Found out about the Kids
It slipped his mind that Haley was a Harvard prodigy.
The documents clearly stated she was the star of the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, hailed as a programming genius.
This information had once been spread before his eyes. Yet, he overlooked it.
It was Haley.
This woman was so formidable.
Keith stood up calmly. "That's enough for today. Should there be any developments with the project, Mr. Anderson, keep me posted."
After saying this, he walked out of the office.
Anderson escorted him to the door before turning to Noah. "Did Nolan really come up with this formula?"
It felt strange.
The big shots in programming were either quite old or balding. Nolan was young and beautiful, hardly fit the programmer stereotype.
"Of course, it's Nolan!" Noah affirmed, "Her logical capacity is incredible. She's even proposed an entirely new programming paradigm, but she explained it so fast I couldn't catch all the details. Next time I see her, I'll have to ask again."
Anderson was lost in thought.
...
After spending the morning at the review meeting with the Winston Group, Haley returned to her company to tackle many trivial tasks. She was so busy that she barely had time to take a sip of water.
Haley was up to her elbows in deadlines. She had the Winston Group project on her desk, the Martínez Group's smart chip upgrade due, DeRoss Group clients lined up for consultations, and her burgeoning enterprise, Star Technical Company, demanded her constant attention.
Before she knew it, the clock struck five in the afternoon.
Setting aside her workload, Haley gathered her things, preparing to pick up her kids from preschool.
Just then, her phone buzzed to life. A glance at the screen revealed "Grandma" as the caller.
She hit the speakerphone button, continuing to pack up as she answered, "Grandma, what's got you calling at this hour?"
Their routine had settled into evening calls when she checked on Mrs. DeRoss. An afternoon chat was unprecedented.
"Haley, why don't you bring the kids over for dinner? I asked the chef to prepare their favorites," her grandmother suggested.
Haley froze, her tone cool as ice. "Grandma, how did you about know the kids?"
"If it weren't for Emily's little update, I would've been none the wiser about the two new additions to your family. Haley, we're family. How could you keep such big news from me?" Mrs. DeRoss let out a sigh. "I heard you have a son and a daughter, both four years old. Bring them over. I want to see them."
Haley's glare turned icy.
She pursed her lips and replied flatly, "All right, I'll stop by the house later."
With the call ended, the chill in her gaze deepened.
Emily.
It was always Emily.
Haley wondered what her next move would be after informing Mrs. DeRoss about the children. There must be something she was after.
If Emily insisted on stirring up trouble with the children, Haley would confront her head-on to uncover her true intentions.
Haley drove to preschool and smiled tenderly once her two children were settled in the car. "Todd, Mommy has to take care of something urgent today. You and your sister can hang out at the Winstons residence. I'll come to get you later, okay?"
At her words, Todd looked up, questioning, "What do you have to do, Mommy?"
"I'm just meeting a client. It may take a while," Haley explained while navigating the roads.
Todd studied his mother's profile, sensing a disconnect he couldn't quite place as if she might be hiding something.
