Chapter 929
Ruby got yanked out by Landon.
Once they were outside, Ruby shook off Landon's hand, fuming. "Your wife’s getting picked on by some kids, and you didn’t even lift a finger to help me."
"Are you just looking for trouble?" Landon snapped. "It’s probably Ivan who sent Brenda out. Why are you, an outsider, getting involved?"
"Outsider?" Ruby shot back, furious. "I’m Ivan’s aunt!"
"And I’m his uncle," Landon retorted coldly. "Enough, go home and stop sticking your nose in other people’s business!"
Landon opened the car door and got in. Ruby huffed but followed him in.
Not long after, Ivan’s car pulled out too. Haley was in the passenger seat, casually putting on lipstick.
"Sure you don’t want me to come with you?" Ivan asked, gripping the steering wheel.
Haley pressed her red lips together. "Nah, I got this. You go check on the Winston Group and then come pick me up."
They soon arrived at Watertown’s biggest mall, where the Lumi Group’s building towered over everything.
Haley stepped out of the car, waving back. "Don’t forget to pick me up."
She strutted towards the Lumi Group building in her high heels.
It was the first day of the new year, so the company was pretty empty, just a security guard in the lobby.
But today was a big deal for the Lumi Group. They were wrapping up the heir election, and everyone was about to find out who the next heir would be.
The top-floor conference room was packed. Bark sat at the head of the table, with Cauth and Hollis on either side, and Bryan and Ava further down.
Besides the Lumi Family, there were a bunch of senior execs and shareholders, making the room feel pretty tense.
"Five minutes left. Looks like Haley’s not showing," Hollis said, checking the time. "Let’s just get started."
Bryan frowned. "We said we’d start at ten. Let’s wait five more minutes."
"Why bother?" Ava smirked. "The petrochemical project’s future profit is fifty billion dollars, while your resort project tops out at twenty billion. It’s a no-brainer."
Oscar nodded. "Whether Ms. Deross shows up or not won’t change the outcome."
"Announce it," Quentin said. "There are a lot of steps to follow after. Let’s not waste time."
Bark’s eyes shifted. He used to be a powerhouse in the business world, but now he was just old. He couldn’t turn things around anymore.
A month ago, he handed everything over to Haley, who had just come back to the Lumi Family, hoping she could pull off a miracle. Now he thought he had overestimated her abilities.
