Chapter 782
Ava felt she had to do something with this photo.
Eva powered down her mobile device and prepared to commence her work routine when she caught sight of Brian entering through the entrance. A faint smile played on her lips as a calculated strategy formulated in her mind.
"Bryan, come here. I need to talk to you."
Bryan glanced up slightly. "What is it?"
"Last time, Cauth said Haley is a descendant of the Lumi family, his daughter. Why didn't Cauth bring Haley back?" Ava asked, feigning concern.
Bryan's gaze was indifferent. "What does that have to do with you?"
"Of course it has to do with me, Haley is my sister." Ava lowered her voice. "Everyone around me knows Haley has been missing for a while, but the Winston family blocked the news. In reality, Haley hasn't gone missing; she's still in Watertown, but..."
She deliberately paused without finishing her sentence.
Bryan looked impatient. "If you don't want to say it, then don't. I'm busy and don't have time for your riddles."
Ava was choked with anger and said coldly, "Haley has a new lover. She moved into another man's house. If this news hits the headlines, won't Haley be scorned by everyone in Watertown? Her reputation is already bad, and now she just got divorced and is already having an affair."
Bryan's eyes visibly turned cold.
He stared at Ava, enunciating each word carefully, "Spreading rumors comes with legal consequences."
"I'm not spreading rumors; I have proof."
Ava raised her phone, enlarging a photo of Haley walking arm in arm with a man, showing it to Bryan.
The photo showed a man in a mask, exposing just one eye, obscuring a clear view of his face. His hand was on Haley's waist, and Haley was smiling gently, her eyes sparkling. Haley and this man looked just like a couple in love.
Despite their recent divorce, Haley's quick remarriage fueled speculation, potentially leading others to wrongly attribute the split to her infidelity.
This would be devastating for Haley, as her children grow up, such news could tarnish their childhood.
Bryan quickly snatched the phone and deleted the photo.
"Do you think I don't have backups?" Ava sneered. "If you agree to my condition, I'll delete all the backups."
Bryan said coldly, "Haley is just an illegitimate daughter. Why would I agree to some random condition for a sister I don't even know?"
"Because if this photo hits the news, Cauth will feel even more guilty towards Haley. He'll think he failed as a father and will try everything to make it up to her." Ava chuckled. "Instead of making amends later, why not nip the rumors in the bud? Don't you agree?"
Bryan tightened his lips.
Haley had been missing for a while, and Cauth had been frantically searching for her.
If Cauth found out Haley was entangled with another man, he would be furious.
Beyond his anger, Cauth felt responsible for Haley's current situation. His guidance could've led her to a normal upbringing, away from constant controversial headlines.
"Cauth hasn't been going to the company because of an illegitimate daughter, and you haven't made any significant contributions to the Lumi Group. Grandpa is already disappointed in you. Your chances of becoming the Lumi Group's heir are very slim," Ava said softly. "Since you have no hope, why not take the initiative to withdraw from the competition? If you withdraw, I won't interfere in Haley's matters anymore."
Bryan's fist clenched tightly.
