Chapter 904
Ivan's face was like a stone, totally unreadable.
He shot a cool look at Owen, "What if you woke up Mom?"
Angela's big eyes sparkled, "Daddy, I was super careful. Can I see Mom for a bit?"
Ivan shrugged, "Your mom and I will be back for Christmas. No need to rush."
The kids' faces fell.
Keith frowned. Didn't Todd say the problem was mostly fixed, so they could see Mom?
Why was Dad still blocking them?
Todd looked even more puzzled. He tweaked the program commands himself yesterday. Mom should be good to go now. What was up with this?
He glanced at Ivan, who just shook his head at Todd.
Ivan didn't know exactly what orders Martin had given, but he had a hunch from Haley's behavior.
It was one thing for Martin to mess with him, but going after the kids? That was low.
Ivan regretted not finishing Martin off, thinking of him as a brother.
But when had Martin ever valued the brotherhood?
Martin wanted his wife, hurt his kids. Was there anything he wouldn't do? This time, no mercy!
Keith could tell from Ivan's cold look that seeing Haley today was a no-go.
He sighed, "Alright, Dad, we're out."
Owen looked bummed, "Dad, I'll call you tonight. Make sure Mom answers, okay?"
Angela hugged Ivan, "Daddy, we're heading back. I'll miss you and Mom."
Todd glanced at the closed bedroom door upstairs, lips tight, "Bye, Dad."
"Ivan, don't stress. I'll take good care of the kids," Brenda said with a smile. "Focus on your work. We've got this."
Brenda led the kids away. Just as they reached the door, the master bedroom door upstairs creaked open.
Haley, in white pajamas, stepped out. Her cold eyes scanned downstairs, emotionless.
"Mom!" Owen shouted, "Mom, you're awake. I missed you so much!"
He bolted up the stairs, throwing himself at Haley.
Haley's eyes were vacant and bloodshot, like she hadn't slept all night. She looked different.
As Owen got closer, he noticed something was off.
He asked, scared, "Mom, why do you look mad to see me?"
Haley glanced at him and pushed him away, heading downstairs.
Owen's eyes widened, filling with tears. Every time before, she'd hug and kiss him. Today, she pushed him away.
"Mom, I haven't seen you in forever."
