Brenda was frozen in place by Todd's question.

Keith's eyes darkened for a moment, then followed Todd upstairs. He entered the bedroom with Todd and closed the door behind him.
"Todd, I know what you're thinking." Keith said, looking at him. "I want to tell you that Dad loves me, loves Owen, loves you, loves Angela. There's no need to doubt his love for us."
"The love of a father for his children indeed needs no questioning," Todd said coldly. "But what about his love for Mommy? That's the real question. Did he marry Mommy out of love?"
Keith paused for a moment and said softly, "If love isn't the reason, what is?"
"For you and Owen, also for me and Angela." Todd sneered. "You and Owen need a mother, Ivan wants the four of us children to naturally stay in the Winston family, so he proposed to Mommy."
Todd even refused to call Ivan 'Dad' anymore, and the chill in his tone made Keith feel alarmed.
"Todd, you can't think like this." Keith opened his mouth, wanting to explain for Ivan, but he had no idea how to explain.
Brenda stood at the bedroom door, forcing herself to stay quiet.
She used to think Keith was intelligent, but now she realized Todd was even smarter and more perceptive than Keith.
Brenda turned and entered her own room, locked the door, then took out her phone and dialed a number.
The phone rang for a long time before it was answered.
"What's up?"
Martin's lazy and arrogant voice came from the phone.
Brenda, with a heavy heart, said, "Martin, why did the children come to you today, and how did Angela end up crying?"
