Chapter 876

The window was busted, letting the freezing winter wind whip through. Haley snuggled up closer to Ivan and mumbled, "It's so cold."

Ivan scooped her up and headed to the bedroom next door. As soon as he set her down, he froze. "Haley, you..."

This time, Haley didn't lose it. She didn't try to break free but instead calmly said she was really cold.

"Ivan, I still remember what just happened," Haley said, a bit surprised. "A man's voice echoed in my head, telling me to smash the floor-to-ceiling window. It used to be a robotic woman's voice, probably the system's built-in AI. But this time, the man's voice didn't sound robotic; it seemed kinda familiar."

Ivan's brow furrowed deeply. He'd read a ton about Bio-intelligent Chips and knew a lot about them.

Robot-issued commands were a built-in function of the chip's program. But this time, it was a man's voice, which meant someone was giving the commands.

Since Isabel was already dead, who else could be giving commands? Just then, Ivan's phone buzzed.

It was Jared. "Boss, Martin wants to talk to you."

Ivan's eyes turned icy cold. He glanced at the thoughtful Haley and said in a cold voice, "Put him on."

"My dear brother, I thought you'd ignore my call," Martin's lazy voice had a hint of wickedness. "Let me guess what you're doing. You must be with Haley."

Ivan's eyes narrowed. "If you don't have anything important to say, then let's end the call."

"What's the rush?" Martin chuckled lightly. "Let me guess what you two were just doing. Was Haley standing by the window, smashing the whole pane?"

Ivan suddenly stood up, his eyes filled with disbelief. Haley's gaze also shifted over. Even though she couldn't hear clearly, she got the gist of what Martin was implying.

She pressed her rosy lips together and slowly walked to Ivan's side, listening closely to the voice on the other end of the phone.

"Do you really think I don't know anything locked in this heavily guarded basement?" Martin laughed loudly. "As long as I'm breathing, I won't let either of you find peace. Haley, I bet you're listening too. Listen up, you made a fool out of me, and I'll make you pay a thousand times over!"

With that, the call abruptly ended. Ivan gripped the phone tightly, a spark of fury igniting in his eyes.

Haley gently wrapped her hand around his arm, and the fury in his eyes instantly faded.

"Ivan, the voice in my head just now was Martin," Haley said slowly. "He must've found out somehow that I was implanted with a Bio-intelligent Chip, which was made by his company. He accessed the backend data and issued commands randomly. I don't know what I'll face next."

Ivan held her cold fingertips. "If he can issue commands, it means he has a device to do so."

He sneered, "I'll have Jared look into it."

A light shone in Haley's eyes. How could she have been so foolish? She, in the chip industry, hadn't thought of this crucial point.

Any command needs a device to transmit it. As long as Martin no longer has a device to send commands, he won't be able to torment her.

And maybe, she could find the backend program and destroy the Bio-intelligent Chip.
