Chapter 256
Ivan floored the accelerator, hands gripping the wheel tightly, drifting across the road.
"Hey, have you lost your mind?" Garrett clutched the handle tightly. "This is a public road, man! Slow down, slow—ahhhh!!"
The car surged ahead, quickly overtaking Haley's.
Haley frowned in confusion. ‘Why is he driving so recklessly? Preschool isn't even over yet‘
A sleek black car pulled up in front of Sunshine Preschool, with Heidi ringed by a few individuals. Her shoulders squared as she navigated the weighty negotiation before her.
"Mr. Jeremy, even if you are Todd and Angela's biological father, you can't see them right now. We have an obligation to their legal guardians," Heidi said, her voice steadying after a deep breath. "If you insist on seeing the kids, you should reach out to their mother. As soon as Ms. Haley gives the green light, I'll bring them out to you in a heartbeat."
Jeremy took a step back, allowing his lawyer to step forward.
Graham spoke with a calm authority, "The law grants parents the right to visitation, and no one can strip a parent of that right. Any attempt by a school staff member to block Mr. Jeremy from seeing his children breaches at least three legal statutes. If we go public with this recording, your school could face widespread condemnation. That’s the least of your worries. If we report this, Ms. Heidi, you could be taken in for questioning by the police."
Heidi's face drained of color.
She was barely in her twenties, never having faced such a confrontation. However, Haley's urging words rang in her head. She knew she couldn't hand over the children to this man no matter what.
"If you insist on barring a father from visiting his own children, then we will have to resort to extreme measures," Graham continued.
He gestured, and two bodyguards stepped up beside him.
Heidi's legs trembled with fear.
Just then, a black car screeched to a stop at the preschool's entrance.
The door swung open, and Ivan emerged first, dressed in a sharp black suit, exuding an icy aura.
Jeremy's expression turned sour at the sight of Ivan.
‘Ivan was the one who had taken Haley away that day on the cruise. Haley must have gotten entangled with the Winston family, which explained her reluctance to join the Chase family with the children.’
Graham, a Cuenca local, naturally recognized Ivan and eyed him thoughtfully, choosing to remain silent until the situation became clearer.
At that moment, Garrett finally regained his composure, bracing himself against the car door as he stepped out.
The high-speed drive had nearly made him sick.
Catching the sight of the crowd standing nearby, he suppressed his discomfort, straightening his back as he transformed back into the aloof and untouchable Garrett.
He approached, adjusting his glasses. Behind the glinting lenses were sharp, piercing eyes.
Graham recoiled slightly, then reached out his hand hastily. "Are you Garrett Leonard?"
Garrett spoke with nonchalance, "You must be Jeremy Chase's defense attorney, Graham Hunter?"
Graham nodded. "Yes, I'm currently handling Mr. Jeremy's case. Uh, how did you know, Garrett?"
‘No way, it can't be.’
Garrett was his role model, the very reason he pursued a career in law. Graham wouldn't stand a chance to go head-to-head with Garrett in court.
