Chapter 360
The pain made the men grimace, but they maintained their defiant attitude.
Ivan toyed with the clothes rod, a chilling smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He strode over and suddenly raised his foot, the sharp tip of his dress shoe pressing fiercely against the throat of one assailant.
His movements were swift and forceful, and the man felt as if his throat had been pierced through, his face instantly turning pale as snow.
"It looks like we need to get tough to get some answers," Ivan uttered with a cold laugh, nudging his foot upward.
The man's breath was constricted, and the veins on his neck bulged as if he might faint at any second.
He could sense a whiff of murderous intent from Ivan.
If he didn't speak voluntarily, it seemed very likely he might not leave this place alive.
"I'll talk, I'll talk!" the man in black surrendered immediately, "A man instructed us to sneak into this villa to seize the two children during an opportunity!"
Haley's gaze sharpened. "What's his name?"
The man shook his head. " I don't know his name. He gave us a million to do this job within three days. By his accent, he's not from Cuenca."
Upon hearing this, Haley understood.
It was people sent by the Patel Family, aiming to abduct the children.
This affair needed to be settled quickly.
Ivan had also guessed who sent these men and coldly kicked the man aside, "Get lost!"
The two men in black fled in utter disarray.
"The Patel Family, I'll take care of it," Ivan said, twisting his fingers, "Don't worry too much."
Haley felt her heart skip a beat.
She quickly said, "You needn't trouble yourself. I will discuss this properly with Jeremy."
"No man would let his children be outcasts, and the Patel Family won't let go easily," Ivan said calmly. "They do have some influence, easily overpowering a single woman like you. I'll handle this matter; it's decided."
Haley pursed her lips.
As long as she presented the paternity test results of the two children and Ivan, the Patel Family would back off.
But this was Something she couldn't plainly articulate to Ivan.
No man could ever stand idly by while his flesh and blood were left to fend for themselves in the world, and Ivan was no exception.
Should the truth about Angela and Todd come to light, she stood to forfeit her parental rights.
"Ivan," Haley said with a gentle firmness, "this issue concerns Jeremy and me directly. Please, allow me to manage it. He is, after all, the biological father of the children. I wish to avoid any unnecessary unpleasantness."
Ivan gazed at her for a few seconds without saying another word.
He stepped back into the mansion while Haley, unsure of what he was planning, hastily followed. She then watched as he went upstairs, checking the locks on every door and window, and surveyed the villa's surrounding walls. Afterward, he called the security office to reinforce patrols. Only after all this did he drive away.
Haley's heart swelled with a mix of emotions that she couldn't describe.
For the past four years, she had faced everything alone, always standing at the forefront.
But just now, Ivan had shielded her.
So, this was how it felt to be protected.
After making sure the doors and windows were securely locked, Haley went to her room and took out her cell phone to call Jeremy. After just two rings, the phone was picked up.
Jeremy's livid voice came through the phone. "Well done, Haley. You've found yourself a pretty boy so quickly!"
The person Jeremy sent wouldn't have failed if it had not been for the presence of another man in Haley's house.
