Chapter 718
"I don't want to drag you into this. Just take care of the kids for me."
Haley marched out of the living room, determination etched on her face, and shut the door behind her.
She walked up to the iron gate at the mansion's entrance and eyed the two stern guards. "What do you want?"
"Our leader, Leonardo, wants to see you. Come with us."
Haley's eyes flickered.
When they met last time, Leonardo said he needed to think about cooperating. Haley thought, 'Has he made up his mind?'
Keith and Todd's plan had clearly failed, so it was up to her now.
Haley smiled softly, "Alright, let me change into something more suitable first."
The guards knew Haley was Leonardo's partner, so they waited respectfully at the door.
As soon as Haley went inside, the four kids surrounded her. "Mommy, is everything okay?"
"Leonardo probably agreed to work with me," Haley smiled. "I'm going to discuss the details with him."
Seeing the kids frowning, she said seriously, "Keith also mentioned that Leonardo isn't really that scary. Don't worry."
Karl's mouth twitched.
'So, am I the only one who finds Leonardo terrifying?'
Karl opened his mouth but swallowed his words.
He wasn't as smart as Todd and didn't want Todd to outshine him in courage either.
"Thomas, take care of the kids for me. I'll be back soon."
Haley changed her clothes and calmly got into the car.
The car drove smoothly on the road, straight into the Hinterlands, and finally stopped at the entrance of a mansion in the core area.
A guard walked over and respectfully opened the car door for Haley.
After nodding in thanks, Haley stepped out in high heels and walked inside.
As she entered, a group of elders in black robes emerged.
Recalling her research, Haley remembered that the Black Gang had a complex internal structure based on an elder system.
Besides the leader, there were nine elders, each with varying degrees of power, overseeing the Hinterlands.
These elders were chatting as they walked out of the living room. When they passed by Haley, a few of them gave her surprised looks.
Haley lowered her eyes and walked past, trying to minimize her presence.
However, her appearance was too striking, drawing attention even when she kept her head down.
Quillan sneered, "Stop right there."
Haley pretended not to hear and kept walking.
"I told you to stop. Didn't you hear me?" Quillan coldly signaled to the guard behind him, who stepped forward to block Haley's path.
Haley raised her head, her gaze clear and calm.
"So, you're the woman pestering Leonardo?" Quillan snorted. "You're pretty, but if you think your looks will make you Leonardo's wife, you're dreaming! You! Take her to my car. Today, I'll teach her a lesson."
Quillan was well aware that Isabel would never get a chance to assassinate Leonardo if a woman like Haley stayed by Leonardo's side.
Therefore, he thought a woman like Haley should be played with and then thrown into the slums to be humiliated.
Several guards approached Haley from both sides.
Haley's eyes turned cold, and she gathered strength in her left foot. Just as she was about to lift it, a familiar voice came from behind her.
"Quillan, are you trying to mess with my people?"
