Chapter 748
Haley sat in the front row with her kids, and as soon as they entered, many people frowned.
Children were often seen as noisy and disruptive, and this sentiment was no different here. More than half of the audience had already pegged the kids as potential troublemakers.
Some even decided that if the children made noise when the concert started, they would have no hesitation in asking them to leave.
"Look, the Queen is here."
The crowd turned towards the entrance, where an elegant woman was making her way in, surrounded by attendants.
Haley looked over as well. The Queen looked very much the same as she did on TV—young, graceful, and exuding an air of nobility with every movement.
Queen Isabella Fairfax, in her forties, was remarkably well-preserved, appearing no older than thirty.
Under everyone's gaze, Isabella sat in the VIP section, right in front of Haley and her kids.
The concert began.
Today's performers were the youngest piano duo in the country, a man and a woman performing a four-hand piece. The piano music flowed like a babbling brook, and at other moments, it surged like a torrential flood, captivating the audence with its beauty and intensity.
Suddenly, the entire venue was plunged into darkness.
The beautiful piano music came to an abrupt halt, leaving the two pianists on stage stunned.
After a fraction of a second of silence, the audience erupted into noise.
"Oh my God, what just happened?"
"My God, I came just for this piece, and now there's an accident halfway through?"
"What are we supposed to do now?"
As the people around started to get noisy, Isabella turned her head in displeasure and reprimanded the crowd, "Quiet, you adults are less composed than these children."
Saying this, Isabella glanced at the kids sitting behind her.
The concert had been going on for nearly two hours, and these kids hadn't made a single noise.
Even now, with the unexpected situation, the children remained remarkably calm.
Although the people present were somewhat intimidated by Isabella's presence, they were not overly fearful as Isabella often appeared at such events.
A person boldly said, "Your Majesty, that's because children don't understand the aesthetics of art. Only we who love music can understand the great loss caused by this power outage."
Every concert demanded a high level of performance from the pianists. A sudden power outage could easily discourage the pianists from continuing.
The piece being played today required an almost exacting level of emotional expression. With the sudden interruption, it was likely that the two pianists wouldn't perform this piece again for at least three months.
"This piece is the Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor by Prokofiev," Angela's soft voice suddenly rang out. "It's considered the world's most difficult piano piece, with so many notes that it's almost unplayable. The two pianists just now did a great job, expressing at least sixty percent of the original piece's emotion."
Everyone turned to look at the source of the voice.
Just then, the power was restored. Under the lights, they saw that the voice had come from a girl who looked only about four years old.
Angela, with her delicate features and serious expression, sat there, her presence commanding attention. No one could believe that such insightful words had come from her.
While the people around were still in shock, the pianists on stage apologized, "The Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor is a piece we prepared for a year before deciding to perform it. We didn't expect a sudden power outage. We will perform it again here in three months. We hope we haven't disappointed you."
