Chapter 128 He Doesn’t Want to Marry Her

"If the air in C country was good, do you think I would choose to live in Australia?" Mrs. Winston coldly remarked. "I've asked someone to bring Owen back to accompany me for a few months."

"No," Ivan decisively refused. "I've arranged courses for him and he can't go to Australia right now."

"Ivan, I'm getting old and I need someone with me," Mrs. Winston's tone was harsh but somewhat pleading. "Living alone in Australia, in such a big estate, do you know how I spend my days? I don't expect you to come visit me, I just want one of the two children to come and accompany me for a while. Will you also refuse this?"

Ivan fell silent, a rare occurrence.

After the two children turned one month old, he sent them to Australia to be taken care of by his mother.

One reason was that he couldn't yet accept the sudden arrival of two children, and the other reason was that his mother had longed for grandchildren. Sending them to Australia seemed to fulfill her wish.

Little did he know, after three months of living abroad, the children were kidnapped due to his mother's negligence.

It was this unexpected incident that made him realize the importance of the two children to him.

It was also from that moment on that he formally accepted the two children into his life.

Ignoring his mother's objections, he brought the children to be by his side and never sent them to Australia again.

He would only visit his grandmother in Australia when Keith needed to travel for work.

"Ivan, I know you can't bear to be away from Keith and Owen, and I won't force you. How about this," Mrs. Winston took a step back, "When will you and Emily get married, and then have another child? After the child is born, just like before, send them to Australia and I will raise them for you."

Ivan's voice became even more resolute. "I've said it many times before, I can't marry her."

"She is the woman you had relationships with five years ago, the biological mother of Keith and Owen. If you won't marry her, then who?" Mrs. Winston argued.

"Mom, please don't interfere in my affairs," Ivan frowned. "I can't marry someone I don't love, so let's not bring up this matter again."

After finishing his words, he hung up the phone directly.

Mrs. Winston listened to the busy tone on the phone and sighed deeply.

For so many years, this had always been the case between her and Ivan. No matter what they talked about, the result would always end in disagreement.

"Auntie, don't sigh," a blond, blue-eyed mixed-race girl next to her held Mrs. Winston's hand.

Using slightly unskilled English, she said, "Ivan probably hasn't gotten over that incident from years ago. Time is the best medicine, and one day he will forgive you, Auntie."

Mrs. Winston frowned in distress.

Indeed, she had made a mistake in that incident, but it wasn't intentional. She had already apologized, and to atone for it, she had moved to Australia.

However, forgiveness was not always easy.

Even so, Ivan was unwilling to forgive her.

For so many years, Ivan had never set foot on this land.

Four years ago, when Ivan brought the two children to Australia, she thought that the misunderstandings between them as mother and son could finally be resolved.

Little did she know, as soon as something happened to the children, their relationship returned to its original state.

"Catherine, thank you for always being there for me," Mrs. Winston looked at the young girl, her tone filled with gratitude.

Living alone in Australia, although she had no worries about food and clothing, loneliness often surrounded her. Fortunately, Catherine often came to accompany her, talk, and dine with her.

"Auntie, it's what I should do," Catherine lowered her brows and eyes, "I just heard you mentioning that Ivan should get married soon?"

Mrs. Winston sighed, "Although Keith and Owen's biological mother cannot be acknowledged in public, at least she has given the Winston family two grandsons. I reluctantly accepted her as a daughter-in-law. Who would have thought Ivan doesn't want to get married at all? He's almost thirty years old now, and he already has two children. Not marrying their mother, what is he even thinking?"
